- • As a Senior HR Generalist at Newsela, you will be an integral part of our People Team, playing a pivotal role in supporting our front-line managers and leaders. This position is designed for a proactive and empathetic HR professional who thrives in a dynamic, fast-paced environment and is dedicated to fostering a positive and productive workplace.
- • Your primary focus will be on providing day-to-day people support, enabling effective performance management, offering expert guidance on employee relations, and facilitating the smooth execution of organizational changes. You will be a trusted advisor, ensuring that people processes are implemented consistently, thoughtfully, and in strict alignment with Newsela's core values.
- • This role involves close collaboration with People Business Partners (PBPs) to assist leaders through critical people-related processes. You will be instrumental in guiding managers through performance conversations, addressing employee relations matters, navigating organizational shifts, and championing culture initiatives.
- • You will act as a key point of contact for managers, offering practical support and ensuring that HR policies and procedures are applied with fairness and precision. Your ability to bring strong judgment, empathy, and rigorous execution will be crucial in supporting both managers and employees effectively.
- • A significant aspect of your role will be coordinating and administering the performance management process. This includes managing timelines, developing and disseminating manager enablement resources, supporting training initiatives, crafting clear communications, and ensuring all documentation is meticulously maintained.
- • You will advise managers on how to conduct impactful performance conversations, deliver constructive and actionable feedback, and skillfully navigate sensitive employee situations. You will also be responsible for identifying when to escalate complex issues to the PBPs for further intervention.
- • You will provide essential support for employee separation processes, working in close partnership with PBPs, People Operations, and Legal teams. Your involvement will ensure that these processes are conducted in a compliant, timely, and empathetic manner, upholding Newsela's commitment to its employees.
- • Conducting thorough exit interviews will be a key responsibility. You will be tasked with synthesizing themes from these interviews and sharing valuable insights to inform strategies for retention, employee engagement, and the enhancement of manager effectiveness across the organization.
- • A critical function of this role is to analyze people and performance data. By identifying trends, flagging potential risks, and surfacing opportunities, you will contribute to proactive interventions, targeted support, and continuous improvement of HR processes and programs.
- • You will also provide essential backup support to the People Business Partners, ensuring continuity and comprehensive coverage for the People Team's critical functions.
- • This is a hands-on, impactful role for an HR professional who is adept at managing multiple priorities, possesses excellent problem-solving skills, and is passionate about contributing to a high-performing, supportive work environment.

🎯 Requirements
- • 5+ years of HR Generalist experience, specifically within a SaaS or Edtech company.
- • Demonstrated experience directly supporting leaders and managers, including providing guidance on performance conversations, employee relations matters, and organizational change.
- • Proven ability to thrive in professional, fast-paced, performance-driven environments and support high-performing teams.
- • Solid working knowledge of U.S. employment laws and HR best practices; multi-state experience is a plus.
- • Exceptional ability to manage sensitive and confidential matters with discretion, sound judgment, and professionalism.
- • Strong interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building skills, with a proven capacity to influence without direct authority.
- • Proficiency with Google Workspace and comfort navigating HR systems and data analysis.
