📋 Description

• As a Senior Infrastructure Engineer at Scrunch, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the foundational systems that power an AI-first marketing platform trusted by Fortune 500 brands and innovative startups alike. Your work will directly enable the company’s mission to help brands thrive in an era where LLMs like ChatGPT, Claude, and Gemini are replacing traditional web search — making your contributions critical to the future of digital discovery and customer engagement.
• You will own the end-to-end lifecycle of Scrunch’s cloud infrastructure, ensuring it is scalable, reliable, observable, and secure — treating infrastructure as code to support rapid, high-velocity software development while maintaining the highest standards of performance and resilience for mission-critical customer workloads.
• Day to day, you will design and implement cloud-native architectures on Google Cloud Platform (GCP), leveraging managed services and custom solutions to support AI/ML workloads, API gateways, and data pipelines that serve real-time insights to marketing teams globally.
• You will build and maintain infrastructure-as-code (IaC) using Terraform (or similar tools), ensuring all environments are version-controlled, reproducible, and deployable via automated CI/CD pipelines — eliminating manual configuration and reducing drift across dev, staging, and production.
• You will deploy and operate edge compute functions (e.g., Cloudflare Workers, Cloud Run for Anthos, or similar), making informed decisions about when to execute logic at the edge for low-latency AI inference versus centralized backend processing to optimize cost, performance, and scalability.
• You will design and optimize database systems (relational and NoSQL), identifying and resolving performance bottlenecks through query analysis, indexing strategies, connection pooling, and read/write scaling patterns — proactively preventing outages before they impact users.
• You will implement and enhance observability across the stack using structured logging (e.g., JSON/logfmt), distributed tracing (OpenTelemetry/Jaeger), metrics collection (Prometheus/Grafana), and intelligent alerting — enabling rapid root-cause analysis and proactive incident response.
• You will design and maintain reliable, retryable asynchronous workflows using orchestration tools like Prefect, Airflow, Temporal, or Inngest, ensuring data pipelines and background jobs are fault-tolerant, scalable, and observable — critical for processing large volumes of marketing and AI-generated content.
• You will write production-quality Python code to build internal tooling, automation scripts, and infrastructure controllers, applying software engineering best practices such as unit/integration testing, code reviews, and documentation to ensure maintainability and team velocity.
• You will collaborate closely with backend, ML, and product engineers to understand system requirements and translate them into robust, scalable infrastructure solutions — acting as a force multiplier for the entire engineering organization.
• You will mentor junior engineers and contribute to a culture of technical excellence, sharing knowledge on cloud architecture, reliability engineering, and DevOps practices through tech talks, code reviews, and documentation.

🎯 Requirements

• Proven experience designing, building, and operating cloud services at scale, preferably on Google Cloud Platform (GCP), with deep familiarity of core services such as Compute Engine, Cloud Run, Cloud SQL, BigQuery, and VPC networking.
• Hands-on experience with Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) tools, particularly Terraform, including module design, state management, and integration with CI/CD pipelines for automated, repeatable deployments.
• Strong background in database performance tuning and scaling patterns, with demonstrated ability to identify and resolve bottlenecks in relational (e.g., PostgreSQL, Cloud SQL) and NoSQL (e.g., Firestore, Bigtable) systems before they cause degradation or outages.
• Experience deploying and operating edge compute functions (e.g., Cloudflare Workers, AWS Lambda@Edge, or GCP Cloud Run for Anthos) and understanding trade-offs between edge vs. centralized execution for latency, cost, and consistency.
• Proficiency in building observable systems using structured logging, distributed tracing (OpenTelemetry/Jaeger), metrics (Prometheus/Grafana), and alerting — with experience setting up SLIs/SLOs and responding to incidents in production environments.
• Comfort writing production-quality Python code, including testing, debugging, and packaging, with a software engineering mindset applied to infrastructure automation and tooling.
