Full Job Description

đź“‹ Description

  • • Lead the design, evolution, and operational excellence of RKE2 Kubernetes clusters across development, acceptance, and production environments, including upgrades, capacity planning, networking strategy, and resilience improvements.
  • • Architect and maintain infrastructure as code using Terraform to provision and manage AWS-based environments, developing reusable modules and enforcing consistent patterns across multi-environment deployments.
  • • Own the end-to-end CI/CD platform built on GitHub Actions, designing pipeline architecture, optimizing build performance, and ensuring reliable, secure, and staged release flows through all environments.
  • • Drive GitOps-based delivery using Flux CD by establishing standards for Helm charts and Kustomize overlays, ensuring consistent cluster state reconciliation and minimizing configuration drift across production and air-gapped systems.
  • • Define and enforce container image lifecycle policies including building, signing, storing, and distributing OCI-compatible images across multiple registries for diverse deployment targets with strict access controls.
  • • Eliminate operational toil through systemic automation of environment provisioning, configuration management, and deployment workflows, reducing manual intervention and improving team velocity.
  • • Establish and maintain comprehensive monitoring, alerting, and incident response practices using Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog, and Humio, owning dashboards, runbooks, and leading post-incident reviews to enhance platform reliability.
  • • Serve as the primary technical liaison between product engineering teams and the Government Systems infrastructure platform, unblocking integrations, troubleshooting complex environment issues, and advocating for infrastructure best practices.
  • • Own the security posture of the deployment platform by managing secrets, certificates, RBAC policies, and security configurations to meet stringent compliance and operational security requirements for government and high-security customers.
  • • Mentor and grow junior and mid-level engineers through code reviews, pairing sessions, design discussions, and active knowledge sharing to elevate the team’s technical capabilities and culture.
  • • Collaborate cross-functionally with Security, Compliance, and Customer Success teams to align infrastructure design with regulatory obligations, customer needs, and product roadmap demands.
  • • Ensure the deployment platform supports air-gapped and highly restricted environments, enabling Chainalysis Reactor to operate reliably in government networks with limited connectivity and strict access controls.
  • • Proactively identify failure modes, implement preventative automation, and design systems with resilience as a core principle to prevent recurring issues before they impact customers.
  • • Maintain and enhance operational documentation, including architecture diagrams, runbooks, and incident playbooks, ensuring knowledge retention and scalable onboarding across time zones.
  • • Contribute to the continuous improvement of infrastructure standards by evaluating new tools, refining processes, and introducing innovations that increase efficiency, security, and scalability.
  • • Participate in on-call rotations and incident response for the deployment platform, ensuring rapid resolution of critical issues while maintaining service levels for government and high-security customers.
  • • Advocate for developer experience by improving tooling, reducing cognitive load in deployment workflows, and ensuring self-service capabilities within the infrastructure platform.
  • • Support the adoption of FIPS, FedRAMP, or IL-level security standards by designing infrastructure components that align with compliance frameworks required by U.S. government customers.
  • • Manage Linux-based systems (RHEL, Rocky Linux, Amazon Linux) with expertise in networking, storage, systemd, performance tuning, and shell scripting to ensure stable and optimized runtime environments.
  • • Work closely with product teams to integrate PostgreSQL stateful workloads, Kafka message brokers, and other data services into Kubernetes environments with robust backup, recovery, and scaling strategies.

🎯 Requirements

  • • Deep experience operating Kubernetes in production at scale — cluster lifecycle management, Helm, networking, persistent storage, performance tuning, and complex workload troubleshooting
  • • Expert-level proficiency with Terraform for provisioning and managing cloud infrastructure across multiple environments, including module design and state management strategies
  • • Strong Linux systems administration skills (RHEL or similar — networking, storage, systemd, performance analysis, shell scripting)
  • • Extensive experience designing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or similar), with a focus on reliability, speed, and developer experience
  • • Deep familiarity with AWS services commonly used in infrastructure (EC2, S3, VPC, IAM, EBS, Lambda, and related networking and security services)
  • • A strong operational mindset — you take ownership of reliability, think about failure modes proactively, and build automation to prevent recurring issues before they impact customers

🏖️ Benefits

  • • Remote work flexibility across the USA
  • • Collaboration with global teams in Denmark, UK, Canada, and Israel
  • • High-impact work supporting government and high-security customers in the cryptocurrency ecosystem
  • • Opportunity to mentor engineers and shape the technical direction of a critical infrastructure platform
