📋 Description

• As a Senior Internal Infrastructure Engineer at Quartermaster, you will design and operate secure, mission-critical infrastructure across Azure, Azure Government, and AWS, directly enabling reliable and observable systems for remote sensor, IoT, streaming, and ML workloads in high-assurance environments.
• Your work will ensure platform stability, security, and scalability by advancing GitOps practices, infrastructure as code, Kubernetes operations, observability, and edge networking—reducing manual toil and accelerating engineering velocity through automation and AI-augmented workflows.
• You will partner closely with engineering and security teams to build self-service capabilities, hardened platforms, and resilient architectures that support compliance-driven workloads while upholding Zero Trust principles and policy-as-code governance.
• Day to day, you will architect and operate multi-cloud infrastructure with a focus on security and reliability; build and maintain GitOps pipelines using OpenTofu/Terraform with robust CI validation; operate and optimize Kubernetes platforms using Helm, SLOs, and automation to improve system reliability.
• You will implement full-stack observability using Grafana and modern telemetry (metrics, logs, traces, alerting); manage edge networking and IoT/streaming pipelines (AWS IoT, Kinesis) for remote sensor data; and support secure ML workloads through strengthened identity, secrets management, encryption, and policy controls.
• You will eliminate repetitive tasks through automation-first thinking, leverage AI-assisted tools for design and troubleshooting, and create self-service platform capabilities that empower engineering teams with paved roads, clear guardrails, and comprehensive documentation.
• You will contribute to a culture of safe agency by establishing feedback loops, defaults, and guardrails that allow engineers to move fast with confidence, while conducting postmortems and driving continuous improvement in platform reliability and security posture.

🎯 Requirements

• 7+ years of experience in infrastructure, platform, or SRE roles with direct ownership of production systems in complex environments.
• Deep expertise in Azure, including high-security and regulated environments such as Azure Government, with strong practical experience in AWS, particularly IoT services, Kinesis, and stream-processing architectures.
• Expert-level Kubernetes operations and Helm proficiency, combined with strong GitOps practices and infrastructure-as-code mastery using OpenTofu/Terraform in policy-oriented workflows.
• Proven experience with observability stacks (Grafana, metrics, logs, traces, alerting), edge networking, remote sensor telemetry pipelines, and securing ML/AI workloads across cloud and edge.
• Demonstrated depth in security domains including IAM, network segmentation, Zero Trust, secrets management, encryption, and policy as code, along with a clear automation-first mindset and comfort using AI-augmented engineering workflows.
