📋 Description
- • Senior Learning Engineer at Playlab Inc. will anchor the AI Lab Schools cohort, a 24-month partnership with 13 schools redesigning teaching and learning around AI, serving as a trusted technical partner to shape equitable, creative futures for students and teachers.
- • Day to day, the role involves holding relationships with 4–5 schools through monthly leader coaching, weekly build sessions, and on-call support; co-stewarding cohort programming and the open-source playbook; building bespoke AI tools with educators; mentoring regional Learning Engineers; defining quality rubrics for builds; running high-trust coaching; co-facilitating quarterly convenings; contributing to adjacent initiatives; and bringing field insights back to product and engineering teams.
- • Playlab is a tech non-profit dedicated to helping educators and students become critical consumers and creators of AI through open-source, community-driven tools and professional development, with over 40,000 educators having published apps on the platform and backing from major foundations including Gates, Google, CZI, and Schwab.
- • In this role, the person will deepen expertise in AI-in-education design, shape an open-source playbook for the field, mentor emerging Learning Engineers, influence product and platform development, and gain leadership experience in scaling equitable AI innovation across diverse school contexts.
🎯 Requirements
- • 5+ years of classroom, instructional leadership, or school leadership experience
- • Senior builder's track record of shipping ambitious AI tools using advanced patterns (multi-step flows, evaluator loops, knowledge grounding, agentic design)
- • Experience mentoring or coaching educators with patience and high standards
- • Strong async and remote-first instincts with ability to build trust over video and shared docs
- • Confidence with prompting and AI app design, understanding real classroom use by teachers and students
- • Strong curation and documentation craft (build logs, playbooks, walkthroughs, recorded sessions)
- • Comfort holding a primary anchor while flexing into adjacent work as team priorities evolve
- • Commitment to equity and access at the center of the work
- • Willingness to commit to the full 24-month cohort cadence, including four quarterly three-day convenings
