- • Senior Learning Engineer [Math Focus] at Playlab Inc., a tech non-profit dedicated to helping educators and students become critical consumers and creators of AI, where you will serve as the senior math voice shaping how AI tools are designed and used in K-12 math classrooms across partner schools and districts.
- • Day to day, you will identify high-leverage opportunities for AI apps that enhance math teaching and learning, build bespoke math apps on Playlab for partner organizations (including problem generators, scaffolding tools, error analysis flows, and student-facing builders), co-design with math educators through coaching and design sprints, set quality standards for math AI tools across the platform, mentor other Learning Engineers on math-adjacent work, run high-trust coaching sessions, push boundaries with advanced prompting techniques, support student-facing math building activities, and bring field insights back to product and engineering teams.
- • You will join a mission-driven, remote-first team at Playlab, a tech non-profit backed by the Gates Foundation, Google, CZI, and the Schwab Foundation, working closely with the Head of Learning Engineering, Head of K-12 Partnerships, and partner organizations like Illustrative Mathematics, Learning Commons, Leading Educators, Bank Street, and New Visions to equip educators with AI tools that reflect their expertise and values.
- • In this role, you will deepen your impact as a trusted math expert in AI education, grow your leadership in mentoring and coaching educators, shape platform-wide quality and evaluation systems for math AI tools, contribute to open-source knowledge sharing through conferences and publications, and advance equitable, creative, and joyful math learning experiences for underserved students.
🎯 Requirements
- • 5+ years of K-12 math classroom or instructional leadership experience with deep understanding of math teaching and learning and experience coaching math educators
- • Experience using, interrogating, and creating AI tools, with ability to critically assess shortcomings and envision meaningful advancements in math education through AI
- • Understanding of the difference between AI that produces confident wrong answers and AI that supports real mathematical thinking, with a commitment to the latter
- • Experience mentoring or coaching math educators or instructional coaches, including working alongside educators as a learner and then as meaningful support
- • Commitment to equity and access, especially for students systematically underserved in math education
- • Willingness to travel to partner sites for in-person build days, coaching, and design sprints
