📋 Description
- • Senior Learning Engineer role focused on anchoring Playlab's work across NYC and the Northeast, supporting strategic AI adoption in education through deep regional partnerships and in-person engagement.
- • Day-to-day responsibilities include leading in-person professional learning sessions, building and co-designing AI tools with educators, mentoring embedded Learning Engineers, holding the regional craft bar for app quality, and serving as a strategic partner to NYC school leaders.
- • Playlab is a tech non-profit empowering educators and students to become critical consumers and creators of AI through open-source tools and hands-on professional development, with over 40,000 educators publishing apps on the platform.
- • The role offers the opportunity to shape regional strategy, influence platform development from ground-level insights, mentor emerging practitioners, and advance equitable, creative AI integration in K-12 education across one of Playlab’s most dense and complex partner geographies.
🎯 Requirements
- • 5+ years of K-12 classroom or instructional leadership experience, ideally in NYC or the Northeast
- • Former NYC DOE, charter, or Northeast educator, instructional coach, or school/district leader
- • Senior builder's track record of shipping ambitious AI tools using advanced patterns
- • Strong NYC or Northeast network with credibility in schools, districts, CMOs, or education nonprofits
- • Skilled facilitator of engaging, inclusive, outcomes-driven adult learning experiences
- • Experience mentoring or coaching educators or Learning Engineers
- • Confidence using and explaining AI tools (ChatGPT, Claude, Playlab) to support educator comfort and adoption
- • Commitment to equity and access, particularly for students systematically underserved by NYC schools
