📋 Description

• Senior Legal Counsel at Seqera Labs, a company advancing science through software by providing a unified platform for scientists to analyze complex data and accelerate discoveries in life sciences and beyond.
• Own and lead all commercial contracting, partner with sales and revenue teams to support deal execution, develop contract templates and playbooks, and provide pragmatic legal advice on risk and interpretation.
• Build and manage legal operations including contract lifecycle management, implement legal tools and automation, establish centralized documentation repositories, and introduce tracking and reporting across legal matters.
• Own corporate governance, entity management, and board-related matters; support equity and cap table processes; design internal policies and compliance frameworks; support audit readiness and regulatory compliance across jurisdictions.
• Co-lead data privacy efforts (GDPR and global frameworks), partner with security and engineering on compliance, identify and manage legal and regulatory risks, and advise on IP and licensing matters.
• Advise on employment-related matters in collaboration with People, support local compliance for international teams, and partner with product and engineering to ensure legal alignment on new features.
• Act as a trusted advisor to leadership on legal, risk, and business decisions; balance risk with growth; help define how legal contributes strategically to Seqera’s long-term success.

🎯 Requirements

• 6–10+ years of legal experience, preferably in-house tech/SaaS or private practice.
• Strong background in commercial contracting within SaaS, tech, or high-growth environments.
• Experience as a legal generalist across multiple domains including privacy, corporate, employment, IP, and compliance.
• Experience in a startup, scale-up, or international business with venture capital exposure is highly preferred.
• Commercially minded with ability to balance risk and opportunity, comfortable in ambiguity, and skilled at pragmatic, fast decision-making.
• Strong stakeholder management, communication, and organizational skills with a process-oriented mindset.
