📋 Description

• • The Senior Legal Counsel at the Centre for Effective Altruism (CEA) is a strategic partner to leadership, managing legal matters across compliance, contracts, governance, and risk while supporting the organization’s mission to advance effective altruism globally.
• • Day to day, the role involves handling a diverse portfolio of legal matters including contracts (vendor, service, NDAs, commercial), employment and HR issues, intellectual property, data protection (GDPR), advising boards and leadership on governance, maintaining legal templates, and supporting program teams on international events and grantmaking.
• • CEA is a growing global organization stewarding the effective altruism movement, focused on solving pressing world problems through evidence, reason, and compassion, with recent growth in headcount, program participation, and grantmaking capacity following a merger with EA Funds.
• • In this role, the individual will develop judgment in balancing legal risk with mission priorities, gain experience in cross-border legal structures, strengthen communication with non-legal stakeholders, and contribute to high-impact organizational decisions during a period of rapid scaling and innovation.
