- • Build and own core machine learning systems that power a proactive, long-horizon AI assistant used by everyday users for conversations, errands, organization, and workflows.
- • Take end-to-end ownership of ML subsystems in production, including data preparation, model training, evaluation, inference, and iterative refinement.
- • Transform research ideas into reliable, production-grade systems that operate under real-world constraints of latency, cost, reliability, and safety.
- • Debug model failures and system issues using real production signals to minimize disruption and improve system robustness.
- • Ship, measure outcomes, and rapidly iterate on ML systems based on user feedback and performance metrics.
- • Collaborate closely with research, product, and engineering teams to ensure seamless integration of ML features into the product and alignment with business goals.
- • Mentor and review work of other ML engineers through technical judgment, code reviews, and example-driven guidance.
- • Design and maintain scalable, maintainable training, inference, and data pipelines that support high-volume, long-running workflows.
- • Ensure ML models consistently meet targets for accuracy, latency, reliability, and efficiency in production environments.
- • Monitor complex production systems, identify root causes of failures, and implement durable fixes to improve system stability.
- • Write production-quality code in Python with a systems-thinking approach, avoiding script-level solutions.
- • Understand the behavior and failure modes of modern ML models in real deployments, including non-deterministic outputs and context persistence challenges.
- • Operate independently with high ownership, driving projects from ambiguity to completion without constant oversight.
- • Contribute to raising the overall ML engineering standard across the team through technical leadership and best practices.
🎯 Requirements
- • Built and shipped ML systems used by real users in production environments
- • Deep understanding of how modern ML models behave and misbehave in production
- • Strong production-quality coding skills in Python with systems-thinking mindset
- • Proven ability to own projects end-to-end, work independently, and drive them to completion
- • Experience with PyTorch or JAX for GPU-based training and inference systems
- • Ability to debug and resolve complex production issues using real-world signals
