- • Manage, mentor, and develop two direct reports: the Accounts Payable Lead and Junior Accountant, supporting their professional growth and performance.
- • Ensure the smooth operation of finance processes through strong financial controls, accuracy, and timely delivery of month-end reporting.
- • Maintain and enhance internal control frameworks to ensure compliance with financial policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- • Own and execute key month-end close processes, including balance sheet reconciliations, reconciling item resolution, and sign-off on financial reporting.
- • Perform detailed variance analysis against budget, forecast, and prior year figures, providing clear commentary to support commercial decision-making.
- • Own inventory accounting processes including stock reconciliations, valuation reviews, and related financial controls.
- • Partner with FP&A on the production of monthly management accounts, management information, forecasting, budgeting rounds, and cash flow forecasting.
- • Collaborate with the Finance Transformation Lead on system implementations and process improvements to scale the finance function.
- • Act as a finance business partner to operational leaders, providing financial insights, challenging assumptions, and driving informed commercial decisions.
- • Identify opportunities to automate manual tasks, improve efficiency, and enhance scalability across finance and broader business functions.
- • Mentor finance team members and other stakeholders on cost management, process improvements, and financial best practices.
- • Coordinate external audit requirements, ensure tax and regulatory compliance, and support statutory accounts preparation.
- • Identify and mitigate financial risks across all areas of responsibility.
- • Champion adoption of existing and new finance systems and processes, demonstrating proficiency in Google Sheets and finance software.
- • Maintain balance sheet integrity through rigorous review and timely resolution of reconciling items.
- • Contribute to the transformation of the UK finance team into a first-rate European finance function as the business scales.
- • Gain visibility across the business and engage in cross-functional collaboration to support Montu’s mission of improving patient access to cannabis-based medicines.
🎯 Requirements
- • 5+ years' experience in management accounting, financial control, or a similar finance role with ownership of key finance processes and reporting activities.
- • Part-qualified, finalist, or qualified ACCA, CIMA, ACA (or equivalent).
- • Strong understanding of accounting fundamentals and financial controls.
- • Confidence in training and mentoring finance team members and other stakeholders.
- • Excellent attention to detail and pride in producing accurate, timely work.
- • Strong Google Sheets (or Excel) skills and confidence working with finance systems.
- • A naturally curious mindset with a desire to understand the "why" behind the numbers.
- • Ability to thrive in a fast-moving, high-growth environment where priorities change quickly.
