• • As a Senior Manager, Data Protection at Coinbase, you will be at the forefront of safeguarding our digital assets and user data within the rapidly evolving cryptocurrency landscape. This pivotal role, reporting directly to the Head of Security Operations, is instrumental in shaping the future of data security at Coinbase. You will be tasked with building and leading a dedicated Data Loss Prevention (DLP) Team, establishing a comprehensive, long-term vision and strategy for our DLP program from its foundational stages.
• • Your primary responsibility will be to architect and implement a scalable DLP program designed to protect the entire Coinbase ecosystem from sophisticated data security incidents. This involves maturing existing capabilities and establishing refined processes, alongside the strategic implementation of next-generation technologies to ensure the rapid detection, effective management, and containment of any data security breaches.
• • You will play a critical role in evaluating and directing complex security designs and controls across our decentralized technology environment. The challenge lies in balancing robust security measures with the imperative to maintain business agility and speed, ensuring that security enhances rather than hinders operational velocity.
• • A significant aspect of your role will involve overseeing and providing technical mentorship for the implementation and deployment of DLP tools and technologies. This will require close collaboration with cross-functional teams, including endpoint security, information technology, and other key stakeholders, to ensure seamless integration and effective operation.
• • You will be instrumental in enhancing operational efficiency by leveraging cutting-edge technologies such as Large Language Models (LLMs) and agentic AI. Embracing an automation-first mindset, you will champion and drive streamlined, scalable approaches to DLP operations, significantly improving response times and resource utilization.
• • A key duty is to advise the Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) and the Senior Leadership Team on emerging data protection threats specifically targeting the crypto ecosystem. Your insights will be crucial in proactively addressing new and evolving risks.
• • To ensure accountability and demonstrate program effectiveness, you will be responsible for producing quantitative and qualitative metrics. These metrics will provide leadership with clear insights into the programmatic impact, identify challenges, and inform strategic decision-making.
• • Collaboration is central to this role. You will work closely with various Security and Privacy Teams, leading cross-functional data protection initiatives to ensure a unified and robust security posture across the organization.
• • Furthermore, you will partner with risk teams to rigorously measure control effectiveness and ensure compliance with evolving global laws and regulations, adapting our DLP strategies as needed.
• • This role demands a leader who can deliver measurable results, possesses the technical acumen to solve complex operational issues with engineering solutions, and has direct experience testing, tuning, and implementing DLP controls across diverse operating systems and decentralized datasets.
• • You will be adept at creating scalable processes, championing automation, and strategically employing ML/AI to maximize efficiency. Your ability to work discreetly and thoughtfully across functions to mitigate risk will be paramount.
• • A deep understanding of the insider threat landscape, coupled with a strong grasp of the legal, regulatory, and ethical considerations surrounding sensitive data in a global enterprise, is essential.
• • Experience with Insider Threat technologies (SIEM, UBA, DLP) and a foundational understanding of investigations or the intelligence cycle will be highly valued.
• • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are a must, enabling you to clearly and concisely communicate complex information to team members and compose impactful briefs and assessments for leadership.
• • You will thrive in a team-oriented environment, comfortable contributing as both an expert and a learner, and experienced in leading remote teams across multiple time zones.
• • A strong business acumen, including a proven understanding of business dynamics, goals, and product strategy, and how security integrates into Coinbase’s overall business objectives, is critical.
