  • • As a Senior Manager, People Compliance at OpenAI, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and sustaining the organization’s global people compliance framework, ensuring that policies and practices are not only legally sound but also aligned with OpenAI’s mission to develop beneficial AGI responsibly and ethically. This role is critical in safeguarding the company against regulatory risk while supporting rapid, values-driven growth across international teams.
  • • You will lead the design, execution, and continuous improvement of global People Compliance programs, translating complex regulatory requirements into clear, scalable, and auditable people processes. Your work will directly impact how OpenAI hires, engages, and supports its diverse workforce, ensuring compliance is embedded in everyday operations without hindering innovation.
  • • Day to day, you will: lead cross-functional People Compliance initiatives from inception to execution, managing timelines, stakeholders, and deliverables across Legal, People, Finance, L&D, and other teams; assess the impact of evolving employment laws such as FLSA, ADA, FMLA, GDPR, and local regulations across jurisdictions to inform policy updates and risk mitigation strategies; draft, maintain, and update people policies, standards, and internal guidance documents to ensure clarity, consistency, and compliance; support internal and external audits, risk assessments, and regulatory reviews by preparing documentation, evidence, and remediation plans; build and maintain accessible, centralized documentation frameworks for people records, compliance artifacts, and audit trails; partner with cross-functional teams on compliance matters related to employee classification, immigration, global expansion, and workforce planning; track key compliance metrics, develop dashboards, and provide data-driven insights to leadership and stakeholders to inform decision-making; support the development, rollout, and tracking of compliance training programs, ensuring understanding and adherence across the organization; assist with government filings, regulatory submissions, and responses to inquiries from labor authorities; stay current on global employment law trends and emerging risks, contributing to proactive compliance planning; and contribute to the achievement of global compliance goals that support OpenAI’s organizational growth and cultural integrity.
  • • You will join a mission-driven People Team that is deeply committed to attracting, engaging, and supporting world-class talent from all backgrounds to advance OpenAI’s goal of ensuring artificial general intelligence benefits all of humanity. The People Compliance and Standards team operates at the intersection of policy, practice, and principles, combining legal rigor with human-centered design to create workplace practices that are both compliant and reflective of OpenAI’s values.
  • • OpenAI is a pioneering AI research and deployment company dedicated to building safe, beneficial AGI and ensuring its broad accessibility. The company fosters a culture of intellectual curiosity, collaboration, and ethical responsibility, where employees are empowered to tackle some of the most complex challenges in technology while prioritizing safety, inclusivity, and long-term societal impact. Working here means contributing to transformative advancements in AI within an environment that values diverse perspectives, rigorous thinking, and a steadfast commitment to doing what is right—not just what is easy.
  • • In this role, you will develop deep expertise in global employment law and corporate compliance within a high-growth, innovative technology environment. You will sharpen your ability to navigate regulatory complexity in fast-moving organizations, build scalable systems that balance compliance with agility, and influence organizational policy at a strategic level. You will gain experience in cross-functional leadership, data-informed decision-making, and ethical risk management—skills that are highly transferable and increasingly vital in the evolving landscape of work and technology. Success in this role means helping to establish OpenAI as a benchmark for responsible, compliant, and humane people practices in the AI industry.
