📋 Description
- • Own the end-to-end product engineering roadmap for BD Medication Delivery Solutions – Vascular Care, leading a global, multi-disciplinary team of scientists, mechanical engineers, and process experts from early concept through high-volume manufacturing launch and post-market lifecycle engineering.
- • Build, scale, and inspire a world-class R&D organization in Bengaluru that is recognized across BD for technical excellence, speed-to-market, and unwavering quality; personally recruit top-tier talent, craft individual development plans, and foster a culture of continuous learning, psychological safety, and data-driven decision making.
- • Drive disciplined portfolio management for the entire Product Lifecycle Engineering (PLE) portfolio, ensuring every project is strategically aligned with business priorities, resourced correctly, and executed via a rigorously scaled phase-gate process that meets ISO 13485, FDA 21 CFR Part 820, and BD Design Control standards.
- • Translate complex customer, clinical, and regulatory requirements into clear technical specifications, risk analyses, and critical parameter maps; champion Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) methodologies, Measurement Systems Analysis (MSA), and advanced statistical methods to achieve robust, high-yield designs ready for automated, high-volume production.
- • Chair cross-functional design reviews, gate reviews, and tollgate meetings with global platform leaders, marketing, regulatory, quality, operations, and external OEM partners; present clear go/no-go recommendations backed by data, financial models, and risk-mitigation strategies.
- • Oversee the seamless transfer of new products from R&D to BD manufacturing sites on three continents, ensuring process capability, yield targets, cost models, and regulatory dossiers are production-ready; personally lead troubleshooting missions when technical or supply-chain issues arise.
- • Establish and continuously refine a suite of productivity metrics—cycle time, first-pass yield, cost of poor quality, design reuse, and innovation index—that provide real-time visibility into team performance and enable rapid course correction.
- • Act as the primary technical liaison with global customers, sales teams, and key opinion leaders to capture unmet clinical needs, feed insights into the innovation funnel, and secure early adopter feedback that accelerates market acceptance.
- • Manage departmental budgets exceeding multi-million-dollar annual spend, aligning capital requests, prototype builds, and external collaborations with strategic priorities while delivering transparent monthly forecasts and variance explanations to executive leadership.
- • Institutionalize best-in-class knowledge management systems, ensuring CAD libraries, test protocols, DFMEA documents, and validation reports are version-controlled, searchable, and reusable across future programs.
- • Champion a culture of relentless innovation by sponsoring hackathons, patent incentive programs, and academic partnerships; personally mentor high-potential engineers toward technical mastery and eventual leadership roles.
- • Ensure 100 % compliance with BD quality policies, local and global safety regulations, and environmental standards; lead incident investigations and CAPA initiatives when necessary, embedding lessons learned into future designs.
