- • Lead proactive risk assessments across multiple risk types and products to identify critical control gaps and drive end-to-end closure plans for risk mitigation.
- • Analyze large-scale datasets to uncover anomalies not detected by existing alert systems or models, and drive enhancements to risk controls based on findings.
- • Manage and deliver complex, cross-functional risk projects in partnership with Product, Engineering, Risk, and Compliance teams to ensure alignment and execution.
- • Develop and implement operational efficiency strategies leveraging AI and automation to improve risk detection, response, and remediation workflows.
- • Prepare and present divisional performance updates, project progress, and risk insights to senior leadership to inform strategic decision-making.
- • Conduct deep-dive analyses on emerging risk issues, providing actionable recommendations to leadership with clear prioritization and impact assessment.
- • Collaborate with data scientists to translate risk domain knowledge into analytical frameworks that enhance detection accuracy and coverage of fraud, credit, and financial crime risks.
- • Own the end-to-end lifecycle of risk initiatives—from identification and analysis to implementation and monitoring—ensuring measurable outcomes and operational scalability.
- • Work within a hybrid environment based in San Francisco, coordinating with global teams across time zones to align risk strategies with Airwallex’s global payments and financial platform.
- • Apply strong consulting skills to solve ambiguous, high-visibility problems with first-principles thinking, balancing speed and rigor in fast-paced fintech environments.
- • Use data analytics tools such as SQL, Python, Databricks, or BI platforms to identify abnormal patterns and support risk decision-making with data-driven insights.
- • Champion a culture of ownership and accountability by turning zero-to-one risk ideas into scalable operational solutions that reduce exposure and improve customer experience.
- • Drive cross-cultural collaboration across engineering, product, and compliance functions to ensure consistent application of risk controls in a globally distributed organization.
- • Stay abreast of evolving fintech risk landscapes and emerging threats, adapting operational strategies to maintain Airwallex’s leadership in secure, global financial infrastructure.
🎯 Requirements
- • Strong risk domain knowledge (e.g., fraud, credit, financial crime, operational risk)
- • Adequate product knowledge in payments, issuing, or lending
- • Strong data analytics skills, such as experience with SQL, Python, Databricks, or BI tools
- • Proven ability to work collaboratively across functions and cultures
- • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- • 5+ years of experience in risk management, operations strategy, or management consulting within fintech, financial services, or high-growth technology environments
