📋 Description

• Lead and grow a team of 6–10 frontend engineers specializing in web (React, TypeScript, CSS), iOS (Swift), and Android (Kotlin), fostering cross-platform collaboration and a culture of technical excellence.
• Own the end-to-end UX evolution of Zillow’s AI Mode across web and mobile platforms, including sprint planning, roadmap execution, and delivery of high-visibility, multimodal AI experiences powered by natural language, voice, and visual inputs.
• Develop and coach engineers through consistent feedback, career pathing, and promotion support, ensuring team members thrive and build long-term, rewarding careers at Zillow.
• Partner closely with product, design, AI/ML, and peer engineering teams to align on requirements, establish unified UX principles, and drive integrated agentic experiences from concept to production.
• Define and extend the technical framework that enables other Zillow teams to seamlessly integrate AI Mode into their own product surfaces, ensuring consistency, scalability, and performance across platforms.
• Champion high standards for frontend quality, ensuring intuitive, responsive, and cohesive user experiences that meet the expectations of users making one of the most consequential decisions in their lives—choosing a home.
• Navigate trade-offs between platform-native development and shared-component strategies to optimize for speed, maintainability, and user experience consistency across web, iOS, and Android.
• Actively use and promote AI coding tools and assistants across the engineering team to enhance productivity, accelerate development cycles, and elevate code quality throughout the software development lifecycle.
• Build trust and influence across functions without authority, driving alignment through collaboration, clear communication, and shared technical vision.
• Shape the future of agentic AI experiences at Zillow, where much of the product vision remains undefined, requiring proactive leadership to identify opportunities and define the next generation of interactive, context-aware interfaces.
• Maintain a people-first leadership style grounded in genuine technical credibility, having personally shipped complex user-facing frontend experiences on web or mobile platforms.
• Ensure engineering practices support rapid iteration while preserving reliability, accessibility, and performance across diverse user devices and network conditions.
• Serve as a steward of the agentic experience framework, enabling broad adoption across Zillow’s product ecosystem while maintaining architectural integrity and design consistency.
• Balance short-term feature delivery with long-term platform investments that empower other teams to build faster and more effectively in the future.

🎯 Requirements

• 5+ years of software engineering experience, including meaningful hands-on work in frontend development for web (React, TypeScript, CSS) and/or mobile (iOS/Swift, Android/Kotlin, or cross-platform frameworks).
• 3+ years of experience managing software engineering teams, with a demonstrated track record of developing and retaining strong engineers.
• Experience building or managing teams that work on AI-powered or agentic applications, including familiarity with multimodal input/output (text, voice, images) and streaming UX patterns.
• Experience leading cross-platform frontend teams and navigating the trade-offs between platform-native and shared-component approaches.
• A people-first leader with genuine technical credibility in frontend development, having shipped rich user-facing experiences on web and/or mobile.
• A practitioner of AI-native development, actively using AI coding tools and assistants and championing their adoption across the team.

🏖️ Benefits

• Competitive base salary range of $206,700.00–$330,300.00 annually in California, Connecticut, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Washington state, and Washington DC.
• Competitive base salary range of $196,400.00–$313,800.00 annually in Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Minnesota, Nevada, Ohio, Rhode Island, and Vermont.
• Equity awards based on experience, performance, and location.
• Remote work flexibility with the ability to work from any of the 50 U.S. states (with limited exceptions).
