This role directly supports the company’s mission to deliver life-changing therapeutics by translating complex clinical data into actionable insights for external stakeholders, thereby influencing treatment decisions and advancing patient care in high-need therapeutic areas.
- • Day-to-day responsibilities include identifying, cultivating, and maintaining strategic relationships with key external stakeholders such as Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs), healthcare providers (HCPs), payors, academic institutions, and patient advocacy groups within the assigned territory; serving as a primary scientific resource by delivering up-to-date, evidence-based medical and clinical information about Xenon’s neurology and epilepsy pipeline, including the Phase 3 azetukalner program and follow-on candidates like XEN1120 and XEN1701; actively contributing to medical strategy by aligning field activities with corporate objectives, adapting tactics based on regional insights, and reporting timely scientific trends, opportunities, and threats to internal teams; collaborating closely with clinical development teams to support patient enrollment in Xenon-sponsored trials through investigator identification and site engagement; leading or participating in national and regional scientific congress activities in accordance with Medical Affairs plans; providing mentorship and coaching to junior MSLs to foster team growth and capability; responding to and documenting unsolicited medical information requests in compliance with regulatory standards; and traveling up to 50% of the time domestically (with occasional international travel) to engage stakeholders across the NYC Tri-State region, including overnight stays as needed.
- • The Medical Affairs and Field Based Medicine team at Xenon operates within a collaborative, science-driven culture that values integrity, innovation, and patient-centricity. As part of a rapidly growing neuroscience-focused biopharmaceutical company with a strong pipeline and robust financial backing, the Senior MSL will work alongside cross-functional teams in clinical development, regulatory, and commercial functions to ensure scientific excellence is consistently communicated and applied. The team emphasizes evidence-based engagement, ethical compliance, and continuous learning, creating an environment where scientific expertise is both valued and leveraged to drive meaningful impact in neurology.
- • In this role, the Senior MSL will deepen their expertise in epilepsy neurology, clinical trial design, and regulatory frameworks while honing advanced scientific communication and stakeholder engagement skills. They will have the opportunity to contribute directly to the advancement of Xenon’s Phase 3 and early-stage pipeline, gain visibility into global medical affairs strategies, and develop leadership capabilities through mentoring junior colleagues. Success in this position can lead to expanded influence within Medical Affairs, potential progression into regional or national MSL leadership roles, or broader opportunities in clinical development, medical affairs, or translational science within the pharmaceutical industry.
