📋 Description
- • Senior OS Engineer responsible for designing, building, and maintaining secure Linux-based operating system components that power hardened container images and cloud-native workloads at RapidFort.
- • Day-to-day responsibilities include owning end-to-end CVE remediation across Linux OS packages, analyzing vulnerabilities in core components (glibc, openssl, kernel modules), validating upstream fixes, rebuilding and patching packages across distributions (Debian, RHEL, Alpine), building minimal secure container images, generating SBOMs, implementing artifact signing and provenance, designing automated CI/CD pipelines for OS patching and image generation, and collaborating with platform, DevOps, infrastructure, and security teams to integrate secure OS layers into product pipelines.
- • RapidFort is a remote-first company focused on eliminating vulnerabilities in containerized environments by securing the OS layer at the foundation of container images. The company specializes in software supply chain security, OS hardening, and container image integrity for cloud-native workloads.
- • In this role, you will deepen your expertise in Linux internals, OS packaging, container security, and software supply chain frameworks like SLSA and reproducible builds. You will gain hands-on experience scaling secure build systems, contributing to open-source security ecosystems, and shaping the foundation of trusted container images used at scale — positioning you as a leader in OS-level security and DevSecOps engineering.
🎯 Requirements
- • 5+ years in Linux systems engineering, OS engineering, platform engineering, DevSecOps, or release engineering
- • Deep expertise in Linux operating systems and distributions (Debian, RHEL, Ubuntu, Alpine)
- • Strong experience with OS package management systems (apt, rpm, dnf, apk)
- • Hands-on experience patching, rebuilding, or maintaining OS packages
- • Strong understanding of Linux internals (processes, memory, filesystem, system libraries)
- • Experience working with system-level libraries and dependencies (glibc, openssl, etc.)
