  • • As a Senior People Business Partner at Whatnot, you will serve as a strategic advisor to leaders across global Operations and G&A organizations, directly influencing business priorities, team effectiveness, and organizational growth during a period of rapid international expansion. Your role is critical in shaping how people strategy enables Whatnot to scale its live commerce platform while maintaining a high-performance, inclusive culture aligned with company values.
  • • You will coach leaders and managers to improve team effectiveness, performance, and employee experience through targeted development, feedback, and support in navigating complex interpersonal and operational challenges.
  • • You will partner on people strategy initiatives including organizational design, workforce planning, and team development, ensuring structural alignment with business goals and scalability across distributed teams.
  • • You will advise on employee relations matters such as performance management, behavioral concerns, and investigations, exercising sound judgment and discretion while collaborating with legal and People Ops centers of excellence when required.
  • • You will drive core people processes including compensation cycles, performance reviews, and talent planning for your assigned organizations, ensuring consistency, fairness, and alignment with company-wide frameworks.
  • • You will partner with Centers of Excellence (L&D, Total Rewards, People Ops) to shape, localize, and deliver effective people programs that support manager development, inclusion, leadership capability, and employee well-being.
  • • You will use data and insights from engagement surveys, HRIS, and talent metrics to proactively identify risks such as attrition or disengagement and recommend evidence-based interventions to strengthen retention and culture.
  • • You will lead change management efforts during reorganizations, role transitions, and shifts in business priorities, helping teams adapt through clear communication, training, and sustained support.
  • • You will support manager development in areas including inclusive leadership, team effectiveness, and coaching skills, fostering a culture where managers are equipped to lead high-performing, psychologically safe teams.
  • • You will design and lead org-specific initiatives tied to unique business needs in Operations and G&A, such as scaling support teams, optimizing trust and safety operations, or enhancing cross-functional collaboration.
  • • You will leverage engagement survey results and people analytics to inform decisions around organizational culture, growth strategies, retention programs, and performance improvement plans.
  • • You will operate in a hybrid-remote model with flexibility to work from home or global hubs, but must reside within commuting distance of San Francisco, Los Angeles, or Seattle to enable meaningful in-person connection for planning, problem-solving, and team cohesion.

🎯 Requirements

  • • 7+ years of experience as an HR Business Partner or similar role supporting Operations teams (e.g., customer support, trust & risk, agent populations) in remote or distributed environments
  • • Proven ability to build trusted partnerships with senior leaders, managers, and employees through strong communication, emotional intelligence, and a partnership mindset
  • • Demonstrated experience in fast-paced, high-growth companies with a track record of being proactive, action-oriented, and iterative in solving people-related challenges
  • • Sound judgment and discretion in handling sensitive employee relations matters, including performance, conduct, and investigations, with strong attention to detail and confidentiality
  • • Comfort working with HR data and analytics to generate insights, identify trends (e.g., attrition, engagement), and inform talent and business decisions
  • • Strong prioritization skills and ability to align people initiatives with business goals amid competing priorities in a dynamic environment
