đź“‹ Description

  • • As the Senior People Operations Generalist at Babylist, you will be the vital on-the-ground HR presence for our Columbus Fulfillment Center in Commercial Point, OH, serving a dynamic seven-day, multi-shift operation with over 350 hourly team members.
  • • This role requires a dedicated Monday–Friday onsite commitment, with the flexibility to choose either an early shift (4:00 AM–12:30 PM) or a late shift (2:00 PM–10:30 PM). This schedule is designed to ensure consistent HR support across all operational shifts, facilitate seamless transitions during supervisor changeovers, and provide comprehensive assistance to team members throughout the fulfillment center's operational hours.
  • • You will also need to demonstrate flexibility to address urgent, time-sensitive issues that may arise outside of your core working hours. This might involve adjusting your schedule for critical events such as open enrollment periods, new hire orientations, or important leadership meetings. The frequency of these adjustments will vary based on operational needs, with some months requiring minimal changes and others necessitating a few schedule modifications.
  • • Your daily responsibilities will encompass a broad spectrum of frontline HR execution, active floor presence, and strategic leadership coaching. You will be entrusted with handling sensitive team member concerns with the utmost professionalism and empathy, conducting thorough investigations, expertly managing leaves of absence and accommodation requests, and facilitating smooth onboarding and offboarding processes.
  • • A key responsibility will be owning the site's payroll operations, ensuring accuracy and timeliness. You will also be responsible for maintaining strict compliance with all relevant regulations through regular audits and meticulous documentation.
  • • Equally important is your role in educating and coaching operational supervisors and assistant managers. You will guide them in strengthening their leadership capabilities, empowering them to confidently manage the entire team member lifecycle. Your aim will be to position People Operations as a strategic partner, rather than a procedural bottleneck, enabling leaders to effectively address their teams' needs.
  • • This position demands a proactive and judgment-driven HR professional who can operate with a high degree of independence, maintain composure under pressure, and communicate with exceptional clarity across all organizational levels.
  • • You will be adept at balancing empathy with accountability, empowering others while making sound, real-time decisions and contributing to the development of long-term HR practices.
  • • As a visible and approachable presence on the Fulfillment Center floor, you will serve as a trusted partner to operational leadership and the onsite People team, fostering a supportive and productive work environment.
  • • You will report directly to the onsite People Ops Manager and collaborate closely with the on-site People Ops Coordinator. While you will enjoy significant autonomy in your day-to-day floor operations, you will be an integral part of a collaborative and supportive People team.
  • • If you have a proven track record of success in fast-paced fulfillment environments, a demonstrated ability to handle complex people-related issues, and a passion for coaching frontline leaders to achieve better outcomes, this role is designed to energize and fulfill you.
  • • You will maintain a visible and approachable presence on the Fulfillment Center floor, building trust with hourly team members and providing steady support during early or late shift hours.
  • • You will own all payroll operations onsite, including timecard review, corrections, approvals, and coordination with HQ to ensure timely, accurate pay.
  • • Lead employee relations investigations, document findings, and coach supervisors through corrective actions, policy enforcement, and conflict resolution.
  • • Coach operational supervisors and assistant managers daily, helping them interpret policies, navigate people issues, and build confidence managing performance, attendance, and morale on their teams.
  • • Empower operational leadership to own the full team member lifecycle, using People Ops as a partner—not a crutch—to support hiring, onboarding, performance, recognition, and exits.
  • • Facilitate micro-trainings and just-in-time learning for site leaders, strengthening their soft skills, communication approaches, and understanding of HR fundamentals.
  • • Manage the full lifecycle of leaves, ADA accommodations, and workers' compensation cases, coordinating with benefits partners and site leadership.
  • • Conduct new hire onboarding, facilitate temp-to-perm transitions, and ensure team members have a consistent, high-quality experience regardless of shift.
  • • Track patterns and trends, spotting emerging issues before they escalate and surfacing insights that help prevent repeat problems.
  • • Translate policies and benefits information into clear, accessible explanations that help team members navigate complex topics confidently.
  • • Partner closely with the on-site People Ops Coordinator, ensuring clean scope boundaries and efficient handoffs between responsibilities.
  • • Collaborate regularly with the Columbus People Ops Manager, staying aligned on best practices, tools, and evolving priorities.
  • • Serve as on-call People Ops contact for escalations outside business hours, responding to time-sensitive issues with sound judgment and urgency.
  • • You will be comfortable and enthusiastic about working in an AI-forward environment where AI tools are part of daily operations, embracing technology to enhance your work while keeping people at the center of all initiatives.

🎯 Requirements

  • • 5–8 years of People Operations experience, including 3+ years supporting hourly teams in fulfillment, logistics, or manufacturing environments.
  • • Extensive employee relations experience, including leading investigations, coaching managers through difficult conversations, and managing performance issues and terminations end-to-end.
  • • Deep experience managing leaves and accommodations, including disability claims, FMLA, workplace injuries, and ADA processes from intake through resolution.
  • • Working knowledge of employment law, with the ability to explain workplace regulations in clear, practical terms to team members and frontline leaders.
  • • 3+ years of experience with HRIS platforms (experience with Paylocity is a bonus), including auditing data, managing timecards, and handling payroll operations independently.
  • • SHRM-CP/SCP or PHR/SPHR certification required.
  • • Available to work Monday–Friday onsite with either an early shift (4:00 AM–12:30 PM) or late shift (2:00 PM–10:30 PM) to support a 7-day, multi-shift fulfillment center operation with occasional on-call flexibility.
  • • Demonstrated judgment and discretion, knowing when to act independently and when to escalate.
  • • Ability to remain calm and professional under pressure during urgent situations, conflicts, and sensitive conversations.
  • • Proactive and preventative mindset, spotting patterns early, solving immediate problems while building systems to prevent recurrence.
  • • Clear communicator, able to explain HR policies and processes in language that resonates with team members at all levels.
  • • Autonomous yet collaborative, thriving independently onsite while partnering closely with manager and teammates.
  • • Visible and approachable on the floor, building genuine rapport with hourly workers across shifts and serving as a trusted resource.
  • • Comfortable and enthusiastic about working in an AI-forward environment, embracing technology to enhance work while keeping people central.
  • • Experience with Monday.com or similar project management/collaboration tools (nice to have).
  • • Comfortable using ChatGPT or similar AI tools in HR workflows (nice to have).
  • • Proficient in Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Drive, Gmail, Calendar) (nice to have).
  • • Comfortable working in a MacBook environment (nice to have).

🏖️ Benefits

  • • Competitive salary with bonus opportunities.
  • • Company-paid medical, dental, and vision insurance.
  • • Retirement savings plan with company matching and flexible spending accounts.
  • • Generous paid parental leave and PTO.
  • • Perks for physical, mental, and emotional health, parenting, childcare, and financial planning.
