- • Lead the design, development, and scaling of Airalo’s global eSIM platform using PHP, with a focus on high-performance, high-availability systems serving over 20 million users.
- • Architect and implement backend services that handle carrier integrations, eSIM provisioning, and real-time connectivity management across 200+ countries and regions.
- • Own end-to-end delivery of critical product features spanning both B2C and B2B customer segments, ensuring seamless user experiences and reliable system performance.
- • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions, with direct accountability for the impact of your work on key business outcomes.
- • Apply deep expertise in PHP frameworks—particularly Symfony—to solve complex architectural challenges, with the ability to quickly adapt and contribute effectively within Laravel’s ecosystem.
- • Mentor junior and mid-level engineers by fostering a culture of technical excellence, code quality, and knowledge sharing across the fully remote engineering team.
- • Drive system stability and reliability by balancing rapid innovation with rigorous testing, monitoring, and incident response practices in a globally distributed environment.
- • Participate in technical decision-making for platform evolution, including infrastructure choices, API design, and database optimization to support exponential user growth.
- • Contribute to the continuous improvement of development workflows, CI/CD pipelines, and deployment strategies to enable fast, safe, and frequent releases.
- • Engage in code reviews, technical documentation, and architectural discussions to uphold high standards across the backend codebase and ensure maintainability at scale.
- • Solve intricate technical problems related to international roaming, SIM lifecycle management, and real-time connectivity status tracking across diverse telecom networks.
- • Work autonomously with clear ownership of features and systems, leveraging Airalo’s culture of trust and empowerment to drive initiatives from concept to production.
- • Stay current with industry best practices in backend engineering and apply them to enhance platform security, performance, and scalability.
- • Participate in the annual Airalo Away retreat as part of the company’s commitment to team bonding and professional enrichment.
🎯 Requirements
- • Proven experience as a Senior Backend Engineer with deep expertise in PHP and large-scale web applications
- • Strong architectural understanding of Symfony or comparable PHP frameworks, with willingness and ability to transition to Laravel
- • Demonstrated success in building and scaling high-traffic, globally distributed systems serving millions of users
- • Experience integrating with third-party telecom carriers or telecom APIs for SIM/eSIM provisioning and connectivity management
- • Track record of mentoring engineers and fostering technical excellence within distributed teams
- • Ability to balance rapid feature development with system reliability, observability, and long-term maintainability
