- • Lead the development of a new mobile finance product for Lendable’s international expansion into Mexico, working within a small cross-functional product team with a startup mindset.
- • Take full ownership of backend systems built with PHP 8.0+, applying modern PHP features and best practices to deliver scalable, high-performance financial services.
- • Design and implement domain-driven architectures using Event Sourcing, CQRS, and Message-Driven Systems to ensure robust, maintainable codebases aligned with complex financial workflows.
- • Collaborate closely with frontend engineers to define, document, and enforce API contracts that ensure seamless integration between frontend and backend services.
- • Work in tandem with product stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical MVP specifications, ensuring alignment on priorities and deliverables.
- • Build and maintain automated testing suites using PHPUnit and Behat to guarantee quality across unit, integration, and functional test layers.
- • Leverage Docker and Kubernetes to containerize, deploy, and manage services within a cloud-native AWS infrastructure, ensuring reliability and scalability.
- • Utilize GitHub Actions and ArgoCD for CI/CD pipelines, enabling frequent, reliable deployments with minimal manual intervention.
- • Monitor system health and performance using Datadog to proactively identify and resolve issues impacting customer experience or system stability.
- • Engage with established product teams across the organization to identify reusable patterns, shared services, and lessons learned from prior product launches in the UK and US markets.
- • Contribute to the technical direction of the Mexico expansion team by proposing innovative solutions that balance speed, quality, and long-term maintainability.
- • Participate in peer-led technical sessions to review code, discuss architectural decisions, and share knowledge with other engineers across the organization.
- • Actively contribute to a collaborative engineering culture that values curiosity, autonomy, and continuous learning, with a strong emphasis on writing clean, testable, and well-documented code.
- • Support the transition from legacy financial systems to modern, data-driven platforms using machine learning and AI where appropriate, helping to reduce friction in credit decisioning and customer onboarding.
- • Operate with high autonomy in a remote-first environment, managing your own workload and delivering results without micromanagement while maintaining clear communication across time zones.
- • Ensure compliance with financial industry standards by building secure, auditable systems that handle sensitive customer data with integrity and precision.
- • Contribute to internal knowledge sharing via Confluence documentation and participate in code reviews to uphold engineering standards across the team.
- • Stay up-to-date with emerging trends in fintech and PHP ecosystems, evaluating new tools and methodologies that could improve team efficiency or product outcomes.
- • Work within a fast-paced, profitable fintech environment where engineering decisions directly impact customer acquisition, retention, and satisfaction metrics.

🎯 Requirements
- • Based either in Mexico or Europe
- • Must have strong English language skills (written and spoken)
- • High degree of ownership and autonomy
- • Strong, business-oriented engineer with modern PHP development experience (PHP 8.0+ is a must); fluent in latest PHP features and best practices
- • Solid grasp of a modern PHP framework like Symfony or Laravel
- • Experience with Domain Driven Design, Message-Driven Systems, Event Sourcing, and CQRS
