Full Job Description

đź“‹ Description

  • • Architect and evolve the infrastructure foundations that will carry Fanvue from 18 to 30+ engineers while preserving reliability, velocity, and developer happiness. Your designs will become the rails on which every product team ships new AI-powered creator features to millions of users.
  • • Own the AWS CDK (TypeScript) codebase that defines our entire cloud estate—VPCs, ECS Fargate clusters, Aurora PostgreSQL ServerlessV2 instances, security groups, IAM roles, and more. You will treat infrastructure as a product: versioned, tested, documented, and continuously improved.
  • • Enable autonomous deployment for stream-aligned teams by building golden-path tooling and self-service patterns. Instead of gate-keeping, you will provide safe defaults, automated guardrails, and reusable modules so any team can spin up a new service in minutes, not days.
  • • Design and maintain bullet-proof CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, ensuring every commit can reach production within minutes while meeting strict SLAs. You will champion trunk-based development, automated rollback strategies, and progressive deployment techniques (canary, blue-green) to minimise blast radius.
  • • Lead the evolution of our data layer: scale Aurora PostgreSQL beyond current limits, introduce purpose-built stores when needed, and craft migration strategies that keep the platform online 24/7. You will tune queries, set up logical replication, and design partitioning schemes that grow with our creators’ earnings.
  • • Improve observability and reliability by defining SLIs/SLOs, building CloudWatch dashboards, and automating alert fatigue out of existence. When pages fire, you will be the calm engineer who drives incidents to resolution, writes blameless post-mortems, and turns every outage into a durable improvement.
  • • Reduce operational toil through internal platform tools: one-click environment provisioning, automated dependency updates, cost anomaly detectors, and security posture scanners. Your goal is to give every engineer an extra day per week to focus on features instead of chores.
  • • Act as a consultative partner during service-oriented architecture adoption. You will pair with feature teams to review infrastructure pull requests, share brown-bag sessions on AWS best practices, and create decision records that spread tribal knowledge across the org.
  • • Participate in a fair, low-stress on-call rotation (currently one week in six) where you will refine runbooks, rehearse game-days, and ensure the next incident is always easier than the last.
  • • Champion documentation as code: every module you ship includes README-driven design, architecture diagrams, and Terraform-docs style reference so future engineers can onboard without friction.

🎯 Requirements

  • • 5+ years building and operating AWS infrastructure in production, including multi-account setups, IAM least-privilege models, and cost optimisation
  • • Expert-level AWS CDK (TypeScript) skills—you have authored reusable constructs, written unit tests with jest-cdk, and enforced policy-as-code with CDK aspects
  • • Deep PostgreSQL expertise: performance tuning, connection pooling, logical replication, partitioning, and Aurora ServerlessV2 scaling patterns
  • • Proven track record designing and owning CI/CD pipelines that deliver microservices to ECS Fargate or Kubernetes with automated rollback and canary deployments
  • • Demonstrated platform mindset: you measure success by how many other teams you unblock, not lines of code you personally ship

🏖️ Benefits

  • • Competitive Senior Engineer (E3) salary benchmarked against top UK fintechs plus equity in the fastest-growing creator-economy scale-up
  • • Remote-first culture with flexible hours—work when you perform best, from anywhere with a stable internet connection
  • • Unlimited holiday policy with a “minimum encouraged” of 25 days so you actually disconnect and recharge
  • • Annual personal growth & wellbeing budget (ÂŁ1,500+) for courses, conferences, gym memberships, or whatever keeps you at your peak
