- • Design, build, and evolve the internal engineering platform that enables GoodShip’s engineering organization to deliver software quickly and reliably.
- • Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines to streamline software delivery across product teams, ensuring consistent, automated, and secure deployments.
- • Manage and provision AWS infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform, Pulumi, or CloudFormation to ensure scalable, repeatable, and auditable environments.
- • Improve developer experience by identifying workflow friction, enhancing local development environments, and building self-service tooling that reduces operational overhead for engineers.
- • Implement and maintain observability across the platform using Datadog, Grafana, Prometheus, OpenTelemetry, or similar technologies to monitor system health, track performance, and reduce mean time to detection and resolution.
- • Define and operationalize Service Level Indicators (SLIs) and Service Level Objectives (SLOs) to quantify system reliability and guide engineering priorities.
- • Build dashboards, alerting systems, and tracing mechanisms that improve incident response, increase system visibility, and support proactive operational excellence.
- • Partner with product engineering teams to enhance data reliability, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and integrity across data pipelines and processing systems.
- • Proactively identify and eliminate bottlenecks in engineering workflows through automation, tooling, and process improvements that scale with organizational growth.
- • Establish and champion engineering best practices that balance velocity, quality, and reliability, with a focus on enabling AI-assisted engineering workflows.
- • Collaborate cross-functionally to remove operational barriers, drive adoption of platform tools, and foster a culture where engineering productivity and system reliability reinforce each other.
- • Continuously optimize platform performance, security, and cost-efficiency as GoodShip scales its SaaS platform and engineering team.
- • Support high-availability, distributed systems running on Kubernetes, ECS, or Docker, ensuring resilience and fault tolerance in production environments.
- • Contribute to the reliability and performance of event-driven architectures and PostgreSQL-based data systems underpinning GoodShip’s transportation network intelligence.
- • Leverage AI development tools such as ChatGPT, GitHub Copilot, or Claude to accelerate development, automate documentation, and enhance productivity across platform engineering tasks.
🎯 Requirements
- • 5+ years of experience as a Software Engineer, Platform Engineer, Site Reliability Engineer, DevOps Engineer, or similar role.
- • Strong software engineering fundamentals with experience building production-quality systems.
- • Experience designing, deploying, and operating production workloads on AWS.
- • Demonstrated success building and maintaining modern CI/CD pipelines.
- • Ability to manage infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform, Pulumi, or CloudFormation.
- • Expertise in building developer tooling, automation, or internal engineering platforms.
