- • Champion Mondoo’s design principles across all product work, ensuring consistency and alignment with the company’s vision for security-focused user experiences.
- • Explore broad design possibilities before converging on clear, well-reasoned directions for layout, structure, and interaction patterns.
- • Lead end-to-end design for core platform initiatives—from initial concept through final craft and production shipping.
- • Translate complex technical workflows—particularly around security, infrastructure, and DevOps—into intuitive, human-centered experiences.
- • Collaborate directly with engineers to prototype real interactions using code, not just Figma mockups, ensuring design intent is preserved in implementation.
- • Build, extend, and maintain Mondoo’s production design system alongside engineering teams, leveraging tools like Claude Code to accelerate component development.
- • Challenge conventional design solutions by quietly proposing and delivering superior alternatives through high-quality work.
- • Raise the standard of design output across the team by shipping polished, thoughtful, and functional interfaces that solve real user problems.
- • Maintain mastery of Figma as the primary design tool while actively expanding proficiency into code-based prototyping and development workflows.
- • Read, inspect, and edit HTML and CSS comfortably; ability to write front-end code is a strong advantage.
- • Work independently and remotely with a bias toward building, ensuring designs are not considered complete until they are shipped and functional.
- • Communicate design decisions effectively through storytelling, rationale, and collaboration with product, engineering, and leadership.
- • Design for technical audiences including developers, security engineers, and DevOps professionals, ensuring clarity and precision in complex interfaces.
- • Operate as a high-impact individual contributor reporting directly to the Chief Product Officer and co-founder, shaping how design influences the product that secures critical global systems.
🎯 Requirements
- • 6 years of product design experience, preferably in early-stage or fast-moving startup environments
- • Strong portfolio demonstrating both strategic thinking and detailed craft, with zoomed-in and zoomed-out examples
- • Obsession with design craft: mastery of typography, spacing, color theory, UX clarity, and micro-interactions
- • Comfort prototyping with code; willingness to use terminals, collaborate with engineers, and leverage AI tools like Claude Code to ship real components
- • Bias toward building: belief that design is not complete until it is implemented in production
- • Proficiency in Figma and fluency in reading and editing HTML/CSS
