Full Job Description
đź“‹ Description
- • Own the end-to-end user experience across Babylist’s web and native mobile platforms, ensuring interactions are intuitive, emotionally resonant, and aligned with the needs of expecting and new parents during high-stakes life moments.
- • Design and build production-quality interfaces using frontend code (React, React Native, or equivalent), eliminating dependency on engineers to implement designs and ensuring pixel-perfect polish in transitions, micro-interactions, loading states, and error states.
- • Leverage AI tools daily to prototype, iterate, and ship experiences in hours—not days—demonstrating AI-native workflows in research synthesis, interaction exploration, and design system evolution.
- • Conduct and lead both generative and evaluative user research, grounding design decisions in qualitative and quantitative insights from real families, and creating fast feedback loops through testing, communities, and direct engagement.
- • Define and elevate product excellence by setting the standard for delight, accessibility, and coherence across the entire Babylist ecosystem—including Registry, Shop, Health, and Gifting—ensuring consistency in brand expression and interaction patterns.
- • Contribute to and evolve Babylist’s design system by building reusable components, establishing interaction conventions, and ensuring cross-platform harmony between web and native mobile experiences.
- • Operate with agency and bias toward action: initiate projects before full alignment is achieved, embrace ambiguity with curiosity, and hold yourself accountable for outcomes—not just outputs.
- • Democratize design by enabling non-designers (product managers, engineers) to contribute meaningfully to the experience layer through AI-enabled tools and shared literacy, acting as a consultant and quality bar—not a gatekeeper.
- • Partner closely with product managers, engineers, and data teams to reduce ambiguity, tighten problem framing, and accelerate decision-making through clear rationale, prototypes, and evidence-based recommendations.
- • Instrument and track the impact of your designs on key business metrics, making iterative or pivot decisions based on data, not attachment, and owning the results of every shipped feature.
- • Build experiences that balance emotional tone with functional clarity, recognizing that families trust Babylist during one of the most vulnerable and overwhelming periods of their lives.
- • Stay fluent in modern product design patterns, borrowing what’s proven and challenging what’s stale, while adapting conventions to meet the unique needs of Babylist’s user base.
- • Maintain a portfolio of shipped consumer product work across web and mobile that demonstrates obsessive attention to detail, motion, accessibility, and emotional design.
- • Act as a multiplier for your team by creating repeatable, low-friction systems that enable faster shipping without sacrificing quality, and by teaching others what excellence looks and feels like.
- • Embrace change as an opportunity: adapt quickly across team boundaries, jump into new areas without waiting for permission, and remain humble, low-ego, and action-biased.
- • Help shape what an AI-first design organization looks like at Babylist and in the broader industry, positioning yourself as a pioneer in redefining the role of the product designer in an AI-native world.
