Full Job Description
đź“‹ Description
- • Own the Developer Products frontend stack end-to-end: architect, build, and continuously improve JavaScript SDKs, embeddable UIs, and web applications that power insurance and retirement benefits for millions of employees worldwide.
- • Translate complex, multi-provider insurance flows into intuitive, type-safe, and accessible user experiences—think multi-step wizards with cross-field dependencies, conditional logic driven by age/provider rules, and Zod schemas with deep refinements that never allow invalid data to reach downstream systems.
- • Design and maintain a component library that is consumed both internally and by external platform partners; ensure every component is WCAG-compliant, theme-customizable via CSS variables, and delivered as a lightweight, tree-shakeable package that keeps bundle size under 20 KB gzipped.
- • Build and evolve a secure iframe-based embedding system: manage PostMessage event buses, origin validation, responsive sizing, and real-time theme overrides so any third-party platform can drop in Kota benefits in under five minutes without touching their build pipeline.
- • Collaborate daily with backend engineers to craft contract-first, type-safe APIs using ts-rest or tRPC; define shared Zod schemas that propagate from server to client, eliminating an entire class of runtime errors and accelerating feature delivery by 30 %.
- • Optimize performance obsessively: profile React re-renders, debounce keystrokes in 30-field forms, lazy-load provider-specific validation rules, and drive Time-to-First-Paint under 800 ms on 3G networks for embedded contexts.
- • Instrument everything—Datadog RUM, distributed tracing, and custom analytics—to detect UX friction in production, then A/B test improvements that demonstrably increase conversion and reduce support tickets.
- • Champion accessibility: implement ARIA patterns, keyboard navigation, and screen-reader announcements so employees with disabilities can enroll in benefits independently and confidently.
- • Drive innovation by identifying unmet partner needs, proposing technical solutions, and shipping MVPs in days, not weeks; leverage AI tools (Claude, Cursor, Copilot) to generate boilerplate, refactor legacy code, and write exhaustive test suites so you can focus on high-impact product decisions.
- • Participate in architecture guilds and RFC processes; influence the adoption of new patterns such as React Server Components, edge-side rendering, or monorepo tooling with pnpm workspaces and Turborepo to keep the codebase future-proof.
- • Mentor mid-level engineers through pair programming, design reviews, and brown-bag sessions; foster a culture of psychological safety where every PR comment is a teaching moment.
- • Contribute to hiring by crafting take-home challenges, interviewing candidates, and refining our employer brand posts on engineering blogs and social media.
- • Own on-call rotation for the Developer Products domain; debug multi-layer validation stacks (client, server, API, provider) using distributed tracing, and turn incidents into durable fixes and post-mortems that prevent recurrence.
- • Ship with confidence: maintain >90 % unit test coverage with Vitest, visual regression suites in Storybook, and end-to-end flows in Playwright that run in parallel on every PR.
- • Stay curious—run quarterly spikes on emerging tech (e.g., WebAssembly for heavy validation, or CRDTs for real-time collaboration) and present findings that could become next-quarter OKRs.
🎯 Requirements
- • 8 + years of modern frontend experience with deep expertise in React, TypeScript, and advanced patterns (hooks, context, composition, generics, conditional types).
- • Proven ability to build and ship complex, type-safe forms with React Hook Form, Zod validation, multi-step wizards, and cross-field business logic.
- • Production experience with React Router 7 or Next.js (SSR, loaders/actions, progressive enhancement) and type-safe API integration via ts-rest, tRPC, or GraphQL with codegen.
- • Demonstrated ownership mindset: you identify opportunities, write RFCs, coordinate cross-team, and deliver features without waiting for specifications.
- • Daily fluency with AI-assisted development—Claude, Cursor, Copilot—knowing when to trust, verify, and refine generated code.
🏖️ Benefits
- • Competitive salary plus meaningful equity in a fast-growing Series A start-up backed by Eurazeo, EQT Ventures, Northzone, and Frontline.
- • Health insurance contribution and workplace pension with company matching, administered seamlessly through the Kota platform.
- • €1,000 annual WFH stipend for ergonomic chairs, monitors, or co-working passes—your choice.
- • 25+ days PTO plus company-wide shutdown between Christmas and New Year, and an annual offsite in a European city with the entire team.
