📋 Description

• Own the end-to-end product lifecycle for the Retail POS Genius API platform, translating merchant pain points, partner roadmaps, and market trends into a coherent 12-18 month product strategy that accelerates Global Payments’ leadership in integrated commerce.
• Define and prioritize the API roadmap by synthesizing quantitative usage data, qualitative developer feedback, and strategic corporate OKRs; maintain a living backlog in Jira that balances new feature work, technical debt, security enhancements, and scalability investments.
• Author detailed epics, user stories, and acceptance criteria that clearly articulate functional requirements, non-functional constraints (latency, throughput, PCI scope, EMV certification), and success metrics for engineering squads working in two-week sprints.
• Collaborate daily with engineering leads, architects, and QA managers to design RESTful endpoints, craft OpenAPI specs, and establish versioning and deprecation policies that guarantee backward compatibility while enabling rapid innovation.
• Drive the creation of a world-class Developer Experience (DX): launch and curate a self-service portal, publish interactive reference docs, sample code, Postman collections, and SDKs that reduce integration time for ISVs, VARs, and internal teams from weeks to days.
• Lead cross-functional workshops with Product Design, Compliance, Security, and Legal to ensure every API release satisfies PCI-DSS, GDPR, and regional data-sovereignty mandates; own the sign-off checklist for penetration testing, EMV certification, and accessibility reviews.
• Establish and monitor KPIs such as time-to-first-API-call, monthly active developers, partner NPS, and production uptime; present insights and recommended pivots to executive stakeholders in monthly business reviews.
• Coordinate third-party vendor evaluations—hardware firmware, middleware, or SDKs—by running proof-of-concepts, scoring technical fit, negotiating SLAs, and owning integration timelines that align with release trains.
• Serve as the primary technical escalation point for large merchant and ISV onboarding projects; travel (virtually or on-site) to conduct white-boarding sessions, troubleshoot edge cases, and champion best-practice integration patterns.
• Champion an agile, outcome-oriented culture: facilitate sprint planning, backlog grooming, and retrospectives; mentor junior PMs and analysts on API product management craft and stakeholder communication.
• Partner with Commercialization and Marketing to craft launch plans, release notes, webinars, and conference talks that drive developer adoption and position Global Payments as the thought leader in next-gen retail integrations.
• Continuously scan the competitive landscape—Square, Stripe, Adyen, Fiserv—for emerging standards, regulatory shifts, and technology trends; socialize findings and propose strategic experiments that keep the platform two steps ahead.

🎯 Requirements

• 5+ years of technical product management or platform ownership with a proven record of shipping RESTful APIs at scale.
• Deep fluency in REST design, OAuth2, OpenAPI 3.x, and API versioning best practices; able to read and review JSON schemas and Postman tests.
• Demonstrated success creating developer portals, SDKs, and certification programs that measurably reduce integration effort and increase partner satisfaction.
• Hands-on experience with POS systems, payment gateways, EMV certification workflows, and regulated environments (PCI-DSS, GDPR).
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to distill complex technical trade-offs into clear decisions for both engineers and executives.
