- • As a Senior Product Manager for the Uplift - Authenticate team at Adyen, you will be instrumental in shaping the future of how millions of users globally verify their identity during the payment process. This is a pivotal role where you will architect and lead the evolution of Adyen’s authentication stack, transforming it from a card-centric 3D-Secure tool into a sophisticated, AI-powered Identity Orchestrator.
- • Authentication represents the most critical juncture in the payment journey. When executed poorly, it can lead to significant conversion losses. Conversely, when handled with expertise and innovation, it becomes a powerful engine for revenue protection and growth. Your primary responsibility will be to define Adyen's strategic position and competitive advantage within the digital authentication landscape.
- • You will delve into the complexities of global issuer behavior, often referred to as a "black box," and pioneer the next generation of frictionless commerce experiences, including the integration and advancement of Passkeys and other emerging authentication methods.
- • Your strategic vision will guide the Adyen Uplift’s Authentication Engine roadmap. This involves moving beyond the current dominance of 3D-Secure and spearheading the expansion into a comprehensive "Single-Integration" suite that supports a diverse array of authentication methods. This will simplify the integration process for merchants and enhance the user experience.
- • A key aspect of your role will be to leverage Artificial Intelligence to optimize authentication processes. You will collaborate closely with our Uplift Machine Learning teams to ensure that authentication is applied strategically, enhancing performance, balancing security requirements with conversion rates, eliminating redundant steps, and ultimately maximizing completion rates for transactions.
- • You will be responsible for scaling new authentication mechanisms from pilot phases to global deployment. This proactive approach ensures Adyen remains at the forefront of the industry's structural shift towards more wallet-centric and user-friendly authentication solutions, anticipating and adapting to market trends.
- • Navigating the intricate web of global regulations and payment scheme requirements will be a significant part of your remit. You will manage the complexities of evolving regulations such as PSD3 and RBI (India), while also actively influencing global card networks. Your insights will be crucial in designing "Secured vs. Unsecured" experiences that deliver optimal performance for our merchants.
- • Furthermore, you will drive the development and expansion of "Authentication-as-a-Service." This involves exploring and executing a vision for a horizontal authentication solution that is versatile enough to function seamlessly across any payment rail, extending beyond traditional card-based transactions.
- • This role demands a deep understanding of product management principles, coupled with a strategic mindset to navigate complex challenges and make critical trade-offs. You will be expected to own the entire product lifecycle for sophisticated authentication products, leading cross-functional teams to deliver impactful results in a global context.
- • Your ability to understand and bridge the gap between legacy card protocols and modern, on-device authentication methods will be paramount. This includes a strong technical grasp of EMV standards such as 3D-Secure, SRC, and Tokenization, as well as a solid understanding of Identity and Biometric standards like FIDO2, WebAuthn, and FIDO Passkeys.
- • You will need a battle-tested understanding of the European regulatory landscape, including PSD2, PSD3, and PSR, and the ability to translate these complex compliance mandates into actionable product requirements that maintain a delicate balance between robust security and seamless user conversion.
- • A data-driven approach is essential. You will be expected to meticulously track and analyze product performance metrics, using data to inform decisions, measure success, and continuously iterate on product improvements, rather than simply launching features.
- • You will foster a collaborative environment, working closely with engineering, design, marketing, sales, and legal teams to ensure the successful development and launch of authentication products that meet the needs of Adyen’s global merchant base.

🎯 Requirements
- • 5+ years of experience in Product Management, with a proven track record of owning the full product lifecycle for complex products and leading cross-functional teams to deliver impactful results, preferably in a global environment.
- • Deep technical understanding of EMV standards (3D-Secure, SRC, Tokenization) and Identity/Biometric standards (FIDO2, WebAuthn, and FIDO Passkeys).
- • Proven experience navigating and translating complex regulatory landscapes, specifically European regulations like PSD2, PSD3, and PSR, into product requirements.
- • Demonstrated ability to make strategic trade-offs and navigate complex dilemmas between scheme-mandated features and internal optimizations.
- • Data-obsessed mindset with a strong ability to define, track, and analyze product performance metrics.
