  • • As a Senior Product Manager, Downmarket Activation at HubSpot, you will be at the forefront of enhancing the initial customer experience for our Free and Starter tier users. Your primary mission is to ensure that small businesses can quickly and confidently achieve their first meaningful outcome within the HubSpot platform. This critical role addresses the current friction points in onboarding and early setup that often hinder time-to-value and long-term customer success.
  • • You will be instrumental in driving activation outcomes by focusing on reducing setup complexity, implementing intelligent guidance systems, and expanding our automated onboarding capabilities. This position sits at the dynamic intersection of product strategy, data analysis, and the application of AI-driven experiences, playing a pivotal role in boosting activation rates, improving early customer retention, and fostering downstream monetization for our downmarket customer segments.
  • • A key responsibility will be to translate broad strategic objectives into tangible, benefit-first user experiences. This involves meticulously identifying and addressing friction points within the onboarding, setup, and initial product usage phases. Your efforts will directly contribute to increasing first-goal activation rates and accelerating the time it takes for customers to realize value from HubSpot.
  • • You will design and develop sophisticated, automated onboarding systems. This involves leveraging customer context to pre-configure relevant elements, thereby minimizing manual setup requirements. A crucial aspect of this will be thoughtfully balancing the degree of automation with the necessary user input to ensure scalable, reliable, and trustworthy customer experiences.
  • • A significant part of this role involves building and refining AI-enabled product behaviors. You will be responsible for developing and iterating on prompts, sub-agent workflows, and evaluation methodologies to continuously improve the effectiveness of onboarding decisions and outputs over time, making the AI a true assistant to our users.
  • • You will lead end-to-end experimentation initiatives to identify and scale successful strategies. This includes shaping hypotheses, collaborating closely with Data Science teams to execute A/B tests, rigorously analyzing results, and operationalizing proven patterns into robust, repeatable systems that drive consistent improvements.
  • • Effective cross-functional stakeholder management will be essential. You will need to align and manage Product, Engineering, Design, Data, and Go-To-Market teams by synthesizing diverse inputs, navigating complex trade-offs, and ensuring team alignment through clear decision-making and concise communication.
  • • Defining and operationalizing success metrics is paramount. You will establish key performance indicators (KPIs) across activation and subsequent stages, including both leading and lagging indicators. Developing dashboards and implementing ongoing monitoring will be crucial for guiding prioritization and informing strategic decisions.
  • • You will contribute to a product-led culture that prioritizes customer needs and fosters innovation. This includes partnering closely with UX and Engineering to build a product that is both powerful and intuitive, and using your unique perspective to drive product strategy and execution.
  • • The role demands a strong understanding of SaaS product management principles, particularly within a product-led growth (PLG) context, and a passion for leveraging AI to solve customer problems and drive business outcomes.
