We are seeking a Senior Product Manager, Growth Onboarding Conversion to play a pivotal role in enhancing our customer acquisition and conversion funnels, with a specific focus on leveraging AI to revolutionize the onboarding experience.
- • As a key member of the Growth & Commerce team, you will own the critical customer journeys that drive Gusto's growth and revenue. This includes acquisition flows, cross-sell opportunities, pricing strategies, and the underlying infrastructure for invoicing and revenue communications. Your work will directly contribute to a significant portion of Gusto's overall revenue goals and will be instrumental in driving traffic to our diverse suite of small business products.
- • This role presents a unique opportunity to shape the future of digital customer engagement. You will be tasked with developing and launching an innovative AI agent designed to guide new customers through Gusto's intricate onboarding process. The ideal candidate will possess a visionary approach to creating AI-driven experiences that proactively address customer needs and simplify complex workflows.
- • Your primary objective will be to significantly increase the conversion rates within Gusto's onboarding experience. This will be achieved by designing and implementing intuitive features and AI-powered assistance that clarify and streamline both the overall process and its individual components, ensuring a seamless and positive initial interaction with Gusto.
- • You will be a boundaryless builder, embodying Gusto's lean and empowered product team culture. This means taking ownership, moving with speed, and utilizing AI as a co-builder to automate inefficiencies and amplify creativity. You will be expected to prototype, design, and ship solutions that deliver tangible customer value with urgency and care.
- • Collaboration is key to success in this role. You will work closely with the Gusto core experiences team, other growth-focused teams, and various product teams responsible for critical onboarding elements such as payroll, employee onboarding, and state and federal tax registration. This cross-functional partnership will ensure a cohesive and effective onboarding journey for all new customers.
- • You will be responsible for defining the product strategy and roadmap for the growth onboarding conversion initiatives. This involves deep customer research, market analysis, and a keen understanding of the competitive landscape to identify opportunities for differentiation and growth.
- • Translate customer needs and business requirements into detailed product specifications, user stories, and acceptance criteria, ensuring clear communication with engineering and design teams.
- • Drive the execution of the product roadmap, managing sprints, prioritizing backlogs, and making trade-off decisions to ensure timely and high-quality product delivery.
- • Define and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for onboarding conversion, using data analytics to measure success, identify areas for improvement, and iterate on product features.
- • Conduct user research, usability testing, and A/B testing to gather insights and validate product hypotheses, ensuring that product decisions are data-informed and customer-centric.
- • Champion the voice of the small business customer throughout the product development lifecycle, ensuring that Gusto's solutions are intuitive, valuable, and address their unique challenges.
- • Stay abreast of the latest trends and advancements in AI, machine learning, and product growth strategies, identifying opportunities to integrate cutting-edge technologies into Gusto's product offerings.
- • Foster a culture of experimentation and continuous improvement within the team, encouraging innovative thinking and a willingness to challenge the status quo.
- • Effectively communicate product vision, strategy, and progress to stakeholders across the organization, including executive leadership, engineering, marketing, sales, and customer support.
- • You will be instrumental in shaping how AI is leveraged to enhance user interaction paradigms and fundamentally transform digital experience design within the small business software sector.

🎯 Requirements
- • 5+ years of Product Management experience with a proven track record of shipping successful products.
- • Hands-on experience building and launching AI-powered customer experiences, with a clear vision for how AI can transform digital experience design and user interaction paradigms.
- • Deep understanding of small business challenges and the ability to identify, frame, and articulate SMB pain points effectively.
- • Proven ability to work effectively across cross-functional teams including engineering, design, marketing, and sales, with strong design partnership skills.
- • Excellent analytical and problem-solving capabilities with a data-informed approach to decision-making.
- • Demonstrated ability to craft compelling, action-oriented messaging that resonates with small business audiences.
