- • Lead product discovery to deeply understand customer problems and test risky assumptions for Gusto Pro Workflows, the product built specifically for accountants.
- • Create and own a long-term vision and strategy that identifies big, durable problems to solve with a competitive advantage in the accountant workflow space.
- • Build iteratively to rapidly prototype, validate, and test new product concepts, using AI tools to accelerate hypothesis testing and gain stronger user signal.
- • Partner closely with Engineering, Design, and Data Science teams across all stages of the product development lifecycle—from ideation to launch and iteration.
- • Rapidly execute and iterate on product features with a focus on user delight, measurable impact, and continuous learning, making calculated tradeoffs under ambiguity.
- • Balance hands-on product building with strategic storytelling to align cross-functional teams and drive organizational buy-in for product priorities.
- • Define, measure, and improve key product and business metrics tied to core accountant workflows including payroll task coordination, roles and permissions, reporting, and operational efficiency.
- • Own the end-to-end product roadmap for Gusto Pro Workflows, ensuring alignment with company mission to empower small and medium businesses through efficient accounting tools.
- • Leverage AI-native practices to automate manual processes, enhance productivity, and create innovative features that disrupt traditional accounting workflows.
- • Serve as the primary advocate for accountants as a critical user segment and growth engine, understanding their one-to-many influence on small business adoption of Gusto.
- • Act as a boundaryless builder—engaging in prototyping, designing, and shipping features directly, without being constrained by traditional role boundaries.
- • Thrive in a fast-moving, ambiguous environment where curiosity, experimentation, and AI fluency are essential to shaping how products are built at Gusto.
- • Champion a mission-driven culture focused on lifting up small and medium business owners by delivering technology that gives them confidence to run and grow their businesses.
🎯 Requirements
- • 5+ years of hands-on Product Management experience
- • Proven track record of leading R&D teams that deliver impactful results
- • Strong product discovery and analytical skills
- • Ability to tell a compelling story that drives alignment and inspires action
- • Strong collaboration skills and ability to build trust with teams and customers
- • Passion for helping small and medium-sized businesses

- • Competitive base pay of $184,000/yr to $230,000/yr for New York
