• • As a Senior Product Manager for Identity Verification (IDV) at Coinbase, you will be at the forefront of building and scaling the company's centralized identity verification platform. This critical platform ensures compliance with KYC/AML regulations and bolsters our security posture by verifying legitimate account holders. You will own the entire IDV lifecycle, from vendor integrations and document capture to decisioning logic, fraud detection, and the strategic roadmap for platform adoption across all Coinbase products.
• • Your primary responsibility will be to define and execute the end-to-end strategy for the Identity Verification platform. This involves developing a clear vision, a detailed roadmap, and overseeing its successful implementation. You will be instrumental in driving platformization efforts, empowering product teams to self-serve the configuration of IDV requirements, decision rules, and vendor preferences, thereby accelerating integration and innovation.
• • A key aspect of this role is managing and optimizing relationships with various IDV vendors, such as Onfido, Au10tix, and Persona. You will be responsible for evaluating vendor performance, negotiating contracts, and implementing sophisticated multi-vendor routing strategies to maximize verification success rates, minimize fraud, and control costs effectively.
• • You will lead proactive initiatives to combat sophisticated threats like synthetic fraud and AI-generated identity attacks. This will involve researching, developing, and integrating new detection features, implementing advanced challenges, and exploring cutting-edge e-ID integrations to stay ahead of evolving fraud tactics.
• • A significant part of your role will be to deliver composable IDV components. These modular elements, including document collection, liveness detection, facial matching, and motion analysis, will be designed to operate independently, allowing for flexible and tailored application across diverse customer use cases (CUJs) and product lines.
• • Collaboration is paramount. You will work closely with cross-functional teams including Engineering, Design, Risk Management, Compliance, and Customer Experience (CX) to ensure the delivery of seamless, secure, and compliant identity verification experiences that meet the highest standards.
• • You will be responsible for defining, monitoring, and analyzing key performance metrics. This includes tracking IDV success rates, fraud rates, processing times (e.g., P90), and customer contact rates to identify areas for improvement and measure the impact of your strategies.
• • To facilitate adoption and streamline development, you will oversee the creation and maintenance of developer-friendly resources. This includes building robust APIs, SDKs, comprehensive testbench tooling, and effective observability solutions to empower product teams to integrate IDV capabilities efficiently.
• • This role demands a strategic thinker with a deep understanding of platform products, identity verification processes, and the complexities of the fintech and crypto space. You will be expected to navigate a regulated environment and contribute to Coinbase's mission of increasing economic freedom by ensuring a secure and trustworthy platform for all users.
