Full Job Description
📋 Description
- • Lead the strategy, roadmap, and execution of SPAN’s Installer App — the mobile and field tools used by certified electricians and technicians to commission, configure, troubleshoot, and hand off SPAN systems on job sites.
- • Immerse yourself in installer workflows through job-site shadowing, ride-alongs, certification classes, and support call reviews to translate real-field needs into product features that increase speed, clarity, and confidence.
- • Define and optimize end-to-end commissioning workflows including circuit mapping, load configuration, backup setup, EV charger pairing, solar/battery integration, firmware updates, and final inspection prep — ensuring reliability under noisy conditions and weak connectivity.
- • Collaborate closely with Hardware, Platform, Homeowner, and Utility product teams, as well as Design, Engineering, Field Operations, Installer Training, and Sales to ensure alignment across SPAN’s product ecosystem.
- • Own the product’s success metrics using field telemetry, first-time-right commissioning rates, time-per-step, support deflection, and installer NPS to drive prioritization and measure impact.
- • Partner with firmware, cloud, and mobile engineering teams to execute on technical requirements, ensuring seamless integration between mobile apps, BLE/Wi-Fi provisioning, APIs, cloud back-end, and device firmware.
- • Develop scalable solutions for complex, edge-case scenarios such as partial backup installs, retrofit installations, mixed-vendor distributed energy resources (DERs), and intermittent connectivity.
- • Champion installer-centric design by prototyping with real crews, iterating rapidly, and maintaining a high bar for reliability — recognizing that every minute saved on-site contributes to scaling electrification.
- • Advocate for architectural approaches that serve field users best, demonstrating deep technical proficiency across 80% of the tech stack including native mobile, BLE/Wi-Fi, APIs, cloud infrastructure, data models, and device firmware.
- • Leverage discovery techniques such as customer research, design sprints, and rapid prototyping to uncover unspoken needs and validate assumptions before development.
- • Drive business model development for 0-to-1 products including opportunity sizing, competitor analysis, feature prioritization, and go-to-market strategy.
- • Utilize product analytics tools, feature flagging services, and in-app messaging systems to measure adoption, detect issues, and optimize user experiences in real time.
- • Explore and adapt workflow patterns from outside the energy sector — such as logistics, field service, aviation maintenance, and surgical procedures — to elevate installer experience beyond industry norms.
- • Serve as the primary liaison between installers and internal teams, acting as the go-to person for resolving field issues, answering technical queries, and ensuring installer feedback directly influences product direction.
- • Maintain a strong, hands-on understanding of SPAN’s full hardware ecosystem: panels, batteries, EV chargers, sensors, and their commissioning protocols — ensuring product decisions reflect real-world hardware capabilities and constraints.
- • Balance immediate production delivery with long-term workflow innovation, continuously discovering new opportunities through direct engagement with installer partners.
- • Foster a culture of non-linear, experimental thinking to build unprecedented field tools that transform how thousands of electricians install SPAN systems every day.
