đź“‹ Description

  • • As a Senior Product Manager, Retention & Rewards at Bold.org, you will be at the forefront of our mission to combat student debt by driving user engagement and long-term value for millions of students. This pivotal role is centered around owning and growing Monthly Active Users (MAUs), a critical success metric for our student platform. You will be instrumental in shaping the user journey, ensuring our platform not only helps students manage their debt but also fosters a deep, enduring relationship with them.
  • • Your primary responsibility will be to strategize, develop, and execute initiatives that enhance student retention and engagement across all key lifecycle stages. This includes taking full ownership of the Bold Rewards system, from its earning and redemption mechanics to its ledger experience and future expansion. You will also be responsible for optimizing various engagement surfaces, such as our mobile app, browser plugin, and in-app notification systems, ensuring a seamless and valuable user experience.
  • • A significant part of your role will involve defining and implementing the Klaviyo strategy for student lifecycle flows. This encompasses activation, retention, timely reminders, and re-engagement campaigns, all designed to keep students actively involved with the platform and its benefits. You will craft compelling in-product nudges, notifications, and engagement loops delivered via push, SMS, email, and in-app messages, creating a habit-forming experience.
  • • Collaboration is key to success in this role. You will work closely with cross-functional teams including engineering, design, operations, marketing, and data science. Together, you will define the product roadmap, build a best-in-class retention and engagement loop, and ensure that our products are not only functional but also delightful and habit-forming for our growing user base.
  • • You will leverage experimentation and analytics to identify the highest-leverage opportunities for retention improvement. This data-driven approach will inform your strategic decisions, allowing you to pinpoint areas where product enhancements can yield the greatest impact on user engagement and platform stickiness.
  • • Beyond tactical execution, you will provide strategic guidance on how product decisions influence long-term student value, support load, and overall product economics. This involves a holistic view of the platform, considering how features like Rewards, plugin usage, and scholarship flows interact to drive sustained MAU growth and contribute to the company's sustainable scaling.
  • • This is a high-impact individual contributor role offering full ownership of the retention and engagement domains. You will be responsible for creating durable growth, optimizing activation funnels, and developing a Rewards system that not only delights students but also aligns perfectly with our core economic objectives. Your work will directly contribute to making Bold.org an indispensable tool for students navigating their financial futures.
  • • You will be expected to think platform-wide, understanding the interconnectedness of various features and their collective impact on user behavior and long-term engagement. This includes analyzing how the Rewards program, browser plugin adoption, and the scholarship application process all contribute to a cohesive and sticky user experience that encourages continued platform use.
  • • Success in this role will be measured primarily by MAUs and student retention across key lifecycle milestones. You will be empowered to make data-informed decisions, prioritize effectively, and drive initiatives that demonstrably improve these core metrics. Your ability to translate complex user needs and business objectives into intuitive and engaging product features will be paramount.
  • • We are looking for a proactive and adaptable individual with a builder's mindset, comfortable operating in an ambiguous environment and creating solutions from the ground up. You should possess exceptional communication skills, capable of simplifying complex retention mechanics into clear, user-friendly product experiences. A high-performing, kind, and collaborative spirit is essential, as you will be a key part of a team dedicated to making a significant impact in the fight against student debt.

🎯 Requirements

  • • Demonstrated success as a retention, rewards, or lifecycle-focused product manager, preferably at a consumer-facing or fintech company.
  • • Strong analytical skills with proficiency in SQL; ability to build dashboards, become fluent in data, and generate models that guide product decisions.
  • • Proven experience collaborating closely with engineering, operations, design, lifecycle, and marketing teams to ship impactful features.
  • • Experience with notifications, plugin adoption, lifecycle messaging, or rewards systems is a major plus.
  • • Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex concepts into clear, concise, and kind messaging.
  • • A builder's mindset, comfortable operating with ambiguity and creating solutions from scratch in a fast-growing environment.

🏖️ Benefits

  • • Fully remote work environment, allowing you to work wherever you are most productive.
  • • High-ownership, high-freedom role with flexibility in structuring your workday, while generally aligning with US time zones.
  • • Competitive compensation package including base salary and equity, designed to make this a long-term dream job.
  • • Comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, and vision insurance.
  • • Unlimited Paid Time Off (PTO) to support work-life balance.
