Full Job Description
đź“‹ Description
- • Own the end-to-end product lifecycle for Umo Pass and cFlex, Cubic’s cloud-hosted electronic fare-payment platform that is already trusted by transit agencies across North America. You will translate market needs, customer feedback, and strategic objectives into a living roadmap that delivers measurable rider delight and agency ROI.
- • Drive agile ceremonies as the empowered Product Owner for the Mobility Essentials squad. You will write, slice, and sequence user stories so that every two-week increment ships production-ready code that can be deployed to live agencies with zero downtime.
- • Be the voice of the customer in every backlog refinement, sprint planning, and release review. You will ride buses and trains, interview riders at stations, and shadow agency staff to uncover pain points they have not yet articulated, then turn those insights into features that feel inevitable once deployed.
- • Champion a “first-principles” mindset inside a team of industry veterans and cloud engineers. You will question legacy assumptions about fare gates, ticket printers, and closed-loop cards, then propose cloud-native, API-first, mobile-centric alternatives that cut CapEx and slash time-to-revenue for new agency customers.
- • Obsess over speed-to-value. You will instrument the platform with feature flags, telemetry, and behavioral analytics so that every experiment can be turned on for 5% of riders in one city, measured overnight, and rolled out globally the next morning if KPIs move.
- • Balance the needs of today’s 50+ live agencies with the long-term vision of Mobility-as-a-Service. You will design Umo Pass to plug and play with third-party mobility wallets, micromobility providers, and employer commuter-benefit platforms, ensuring Cubic earns a micro-transaction fee on every leg of a multimodal journey.
- • Refine and defend a program-level backlog that spans device firmware, mobile SDKs, web portals, data pipelines, and DevOps automation. You will negotiate scope trade-offs with architects, security, compliance, and finance so that the highest-value work is always in the next sprint.
- • Collaborate with the broader Umo portfolio—Umo IQ, Umo Rewards, Umo Insight—to craft unified user journeys. You will ensure a rider who buys a day pass in the app can seamlessly earn loyalty points, receive disruption alerts, and tap-to-ride on any participating agency without re-authenticating.
- • Identify new revenue streams and partnership models. You will work with Business Development to package cFlex as a white-label SaaS offering for university campuses, corporate shuttles, and tourist destinations, complete with usage-based pricing and self-service onboarding.
- • Evangelize the product internally and externally. You will present quarterly OKR reviews to executives, demo new features at APTA and UITP conferences, and publish thought-leadership blogs that position Cubic as the Netflix of transit payments.
- • Measure what matters. You will define North-Star metrics such as “first tap success rate,” “time from contract signature to live revenue,” and “monthly active riders per agency,” then build dashboards that make progress visible to everyone from engineers to the CEO.
- • Foster a culture of psychological safety and continuous improvement. You will run blameless post-mortems, celebrate failed experiments that generate learning, and mentor junior PMs so that the team becomes stronger every quarter—even when you are not in the room.
- • Stay ahead of industry trends. You will track open-loop payments, account-based ticketing, CBDC pilots, and privacy regulations so that Umo Pass is never blindsided by a new mandate or competitive threat.
- • Operate with fiscal discipline. You will manage a multi-million-dollar investment budget, prioritize features that unlock new ARR within 12 months, and sunset legacy capabilities that no longer pay for their own complexity.
