- • Establish and lead a formal product/user research program from the ground up in an organization with no existing research infrastructure.
- • Define research philosophy, standards, best practices, and governance frameworks to ensure rigor, mitigate bias, and improve consistency across all research activities.
- • Build scalable research infrastructure including participant recruitment systems, insight synthesis workflows, and knowledge management tools.
- • Own and operate a continuous rolling research program that delivers ongoing user feedback aligned with product development priorities.
- • Partner with product and design teams to intake research needs and translate them into structured, methodologically sound test plans.
- • Recruit, schedule, and facilitate participant sessions on an ongoing basis, adjusting cadence based on product velocity and research complexity.
- • Synthesize qualitative and quantitative research findings into actionable insights that directly inform product direction and design decisions.
- • Apply appropriate mixed-methods approaches—including interviews, usability testing, concept validation, surveys, diary studies, and experiments—to both discovery and evaluative research phases.
- • Ensure methodological clarity and research rigor across all studies, maintaining high standards for bias mitigation and data integrity.
- • Lead longer-term strategic research initiatives to deepen understanding of user behaviors, mental models, and unmet needs.
- • Manage external research agencies for larger-scale studies (1–2 per quarter or half-year), with leadership approval and clear deliverables.
- • Drive cross-study synthesis to develop durable user profiles and insights that guide long-term product strategy.
- • Educate and coach product managers, designers, and other non-researchers on research methodology, interpretation, and appropriate application.
- • Elevate organizational research literacy by embedding research thinking into product decision-making processes.
- • Operate with high autonomy in ambiguous environments, taking full ownership of program development and execution.
- • Maintain a sustainable research rhythm that balances responsiveness with depth and methodological integrity.
- • Collaborate closely with the Head of Design and product design team as a foundational hire reporting into product and design leadership.
- • Contribute to building a culture where user insights drive product decisions and where every voice is valued in shaping fair financial access.
🎯 Requirements
- • Senior-level experience in product or UX research within digital product organizations
- • Demonstrated ability to establish research practices in environments lacking mature research infrastructure
- • Strong mixed-methods expertise with clear judgment on methodology selection
- • Experience operating continuous or rolling research programs
- • Deep understanding of research rigor, bias mitigation, and insight synthesis
- • Ability to elevate organizational research literacy and coach non-researchers on best practices
