Full Job Description
đź“‹ Description
- • Own the mobile test strategy for Lendable’s React Native app (Zable), defining and evolving a pragmatic test pyramid that balances E2E, component, and unit test coverage based on reliability, speed, and business impact.
- • Build and maintain scalable mobile E2E automation suites using Maestro, including test data pipelines, device configuration, reporting infrastructure, and integration with GitHub Actions CI to ensure fast, trustworthy feedback on every PR and release candidate.
- • Drive down test flakiness by treating flaky tests as critically as broken tests—requiring root-cause analysis and permanent fixes, not retries or quarantines.
- • Integrate AI-assisted tooling into the quality engineering workflow to accelerate test authoring, cluster test failures, surface coverage gaps, and propose fixes—while applying engineering judgment to ensure test trustworthiness over quantity.
- • Partner with product and engineering teams early in the development lifecycle to shift left on quality: challenge ambiguous acceptance criteria, identify risks before code is written, and influence feature design for testability.
- • Close the loop on production issues by correlating test coverage with real-world customer impact using observability tools (Datadog, Sentry, Grafana) to prioritize test improvements based on actual user pain points.
- • Conduct targeted exploratory testing on high-risk releases when automated coverage is insufficient, ensuring critical user journeys are validated with human insight.
- • Design and maintain test frameworks, helper libraries, and CI/CD tooling in TypeScript and JavaScript—not just writing test scripts, but building reusable systems that empower the entire engineering team.
- • Set and enforce the standard for what "ready to ship" means on mobile, holding the line on quality thresholds even under pressure to accelerate release cadence.
- • Shape how the mobile team adopts AI-assisted workflows broadly, defining prompts, guardrails, review patterns, and trust metrics to ensure AI enhances—not replaces—human judgment in testing.
- • Collaborate across engineering, product, and design to ensure quality is a shared ownership, not a gatekeeping function, and that test automation enables faster innovation without sacrificing reliability.
- • Continuously improve test infrastructure by optimizing parallelization, artifact management, runtime control, and reporting clarity to reduce time-to-diagnosis and increase team confidence in test results.
- • Maintain deep awareness of mobile-specific quality concerns including startup time, memory usage, battery impact, and crash rates, and ensure test strategies account for these performance and reliability factors.
- • Use observability data to inform test coverage gaps and prioritize automation efforts on features with the highest customer impact or failure rates.
- • Act as a technical leader in quality engineering, mentoring peers, documenting best practices, and advocating for sustainable, maintainable test systems over brittle, high-maintenance scripts.
🎯 Requirements
- • 5+ years in quality engineering or test automation with a proven track record of maintaining stable, reliable automated test suites rather than allowing them to become flaky or abandoned.
- • Strong proficiency in TypeScript and JavaScript, with experience building test frameworks, helpers, and debugging tools—not just executing scripts.
- • Hands-on experience shaping CI/CD pipelines for test reliability (e.g., GitHub Actions), including flakiness reduction, parallelization, artifact management, and runtime control.
- • Experience with mobile E2E automation (Maestro, Detox, Appium) or strong E2E automation experience on another platform with a credible plan to ramp quickly on mobile.
- • Demonstrated use of AI tools in testing workflows (e.g., test generation, failure clustering, coverage analysis) with clear judgment on when AI adds value versus when human oversight is required.
- • Proactive, low-ego communicator who can drive improvements end-to-end independently and collaborate effectively across engineering, product, and design teams.
🏖️ Benefits
- • Private health cover for physical and mental wellbeing.
- • Retirement and savings plans to support long-term financial wellbeing.
- • Employee referral programme with competitive bonuses for successful referrals.
- • Complimentary lunches and fully stocked kitchen on in-office days at select locations.
- • Cycle-to-work and electric vehicle salary sacrifice schemes available in select locations.
- • Flexible working model with hybrid roles requiring three days in-office weekly and opportunities for in-person socials and off-sites.
