Full Job Description
đź“‹ Description
- • Mochi Health is revolutionizing the healthcare industry by building an AI-driven marketplace designed to make healthcare accessible, understandable, and affordable for patients. We are tackling the fundamental challenges in healthcare, from patient access to care and cost transparency to medication management. Our innovative platform provides patients with clear pricing before payment, personalized medication support that spans across different providers, and continuous access to their own medical records. By combining clinical expertise with cutting-edge technology, Mochi Health is creating a more human, intuitive, and cost-effective healthcare experience.
- • As a Senior React Native / Expo Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the mobile applications that serve as the primary daily interface for our patients and providers. This is a unique opportunity to own the end-to-end mobile product experience in a high-leverage engineering environment, contributing directly to the success of a rapidly growing, nine-figure ARR healthcare platform.
- • You will be instrumental in architecting and building the mobile clinical experience, developing dynamic, high-performance tools that are critical for patient care. This includes deep integrations with native health platforms like Apple HealthKit and Google Health Connect, enabling seamless ingestion and visualization of real-time patient biometric data. You will also develop highly responsive and secure messaging systems, ensuring frictionless communication between patients and their care teams.
- • A key aspect of this role involves leveraging the full potential of the Expo ecosystem to create a robust and unified cross-platform experience. You will manage and optimize our mobile infrastructure using EAS (Expo Application Services), including handling build pipelines, configuring custom native modules via Config Plugins, and implementing seamless over-the-air (OTA) updates to ensure rapid iteration and continuous delivery of clinical tools.
- • You will design for real-world mobile usage, architecting robust offline-first data synchronization strategies and implementing aggressive local caching mechanisms. This ensures that patients can reliably access their care plans and critical information, even in environments with intermittent cellular connectivity.
- • As a mobile product specialist, you will champion the mobile user experience, obsessing over the details that define a premium, native feel. This includes optimizing frame rates, refining navigation stack transitions, implementing effective keyboard avoidance behaviors, and adhering to accessibility standards to support a diverse patient population.
- • You will be at the forefront of integrating AI capabilities into our mobile interfaces, building agentic workflows that automate clinical operations and streamline patient support. This involves not only utilizing frontier agentic models to accelerate your own development process but also embedding AI directly into the patient and provider experience.
- • This role requires raising the overall engineering bar by owning key mobile architectural decisions, establishing patterns for strict code reuse between web and mobile clients, and mentoring other engineers through rigorous code reviews and best practices in mobile testing.
- • The ideal candidate possesses 5-7+ years of frontend engineering experience with a deep specialization in React Native and Expo, having successfully built, shipped, and maintained complex, data-intensive mobile applications in production. Expertise in the modern Expo ecosystem, including EAS builds and integrating native modules without ejecting, is crucial. You should have a strong understanding of mobile state management and performance optimization, including the React render cycle on mobile and preventing UI thread blocking.
- • You will be responsible for the full lifecycle of the mobile application, from development and deployment to monitoring crash rates (e.g., Sentry) and ensuring overall reliability in production. Experience with AI agentic tools (e.g., Codex, Claude) and their application in accelerating development workflows is highly valued. Strong collaboration skills, low ego, and high standards are essential for working effectively in a cross-functional environment with healthcare regulations and patient safety as paramount concerns.
- • This position is based in San Francisco, CA, requiring a 5-day-per-week in-office presence to foster collaboration and innovation. Experience with native iOS (Swift/Objective-C) or Android (Kotlin/Java) is a plus, but mastery of React Native and strong product sense are prioritized. For candidates targeting Staff leveling, a proven track record of setting technical direction, navigating ambiguity, and elevating team members is expected.
- • The role offers a competitive salary band of $230,000 - $280,000, with potential for Staff leveling at $280,000 - $330,000, in addition to equity and comprehensive benefits. The interview process is designed to be efficient, including an intro call, hiring manager screen, technical round with practical coding and system design, and an on-site team meet, with the potential to move from application to offer within two weeks.
