- • Design and research performant algorithms and architectures for storage, recovery, and execution in single-node and distributed systems, with a focus on high-throughput, low-latency systems.
- • Research and develop novel systems architectures to improve the performance and scalability of blockchain infrastructure, specifically targeting EVM-compatible Layer 1 solutions.
- • Contribute to the development of open-source core software components including a parallel-execution EVM, a custom state database, and a BFT consensus client, all written in C++ and publicly available on GitHub.
- • Work within a small, highly technical team of engineers and researchers to solve high-impact problems at the frontier of decentralized systems.
- • Apply deep expertise in operating systems, databases, multi-core algorithms, or systems verification to enhance the efficiency and correctness of low-level system components.
- • Write production-grade code using C++, clang, LLVM, gdb, perf, and Unix tools to implement and optimize core system functionalities.
- • Engage in open development practices by contributing to public repositories, receiving community feedback, and ensuring transparency in all technical outputs.
- • Collaborate with peers to review, refine, and ship high-quality code with rigorous attention to performance, correctness, and maintainability.
- • Adapt quickly to evolving tooling and technologies, leveraging AI coding assistants as leverage while maintaining full ownership and scrutiny of all shipped code.
- • Maintain a strong focus on lower-level system details, including memory management, concurrency, I/O optimization, and system call behavior.
- • Contribute to the shaping of a collaborative, low-ego, high-output culture as an early team member of a rapidly scaling startup.
- • Participate in the full lifecycle of system design, prototyping, benchmarking, and deployment of core infrastructure components that power Monad’s live mainnet.
- • Stay current with advancements in systems research and apply relevant academic or industrial innovations to real-world blockchain performance challenges.
- • Work in a fast-paced environment where decisions have immediate, measurable impact on a globally used blockchain platform.
- • Document research findings, architectural decisions, and performance benchmarks for internal and public consumption.
- • Contribute to technical blogs and publications to share insights with the broader decentralized systems community.
🎯 Requirements
- • PhD in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience
- • Significant research experience in databases or operating systems
- • Proven experience writing performant algorithms
- • Experience writing production-grade code in C++
- • Resourceful and self-motivated with strong problem-solving skills
- • Collaborative mindset and ability to thrive in a fast-paced, small-team environment
