• • Babylist is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Senior Revenue Accountant to join our dynamic accounting team. In this pivotal role, you will be instrumental in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of our multi-channel revenue recognition processes, a critical function for a rapidly growing e-commerce and content platform like Babylist.
• • Your primary responsibility will involve the meticulous analysis of complex contracts, particularly those related to custom media and advertising sales. This analysis will form the basis for accurately recording revenue transactions in accordance with accounting standards.
• • You will play a key role in maintaining essential accounting schedules that support our custom media and advertising revenue streams, ensuring all documentation is up-to-date and readily available.
• • A significant aspect of this role includes cross-functional collaboration. You will work closely with teams in Partnerships, Sales, and broader Accounting/Finance departments to ensure that all relevant stakeholders have timely and accurate information regarding advertising agreements and revenue implications.
• • You will be a key participant in the month-end close process, contributing to the timely and accurate financial reporting of the company. This includes preparing and posting journal entries, performing reconciliations, and ensuring all revenue-related transactions are accounted for correctly.
• • A core duty will be to review balance sheet and Profit & Loss (P&L) statements, providing insightful commentary and variance analysis to explain fluctuations and trends in media, affiliate, and other revenue accounts.
• • You will be responsible for researching and documenting complex revenue recognition matters, ensuring Babylist remains compliant with evolving accounting standards, particularly ASC 606.
• • You will review new revenue agreements, working with the Accounting Manager to establish and implement appropriate revenue recognition accounting policies.
• • The role involves preparing and updating supporting schedules, performing ASC 606 calculations, and recording journal entries for media and other revenue streams as part of the monthly close.
• • You will be tasked with reconciling general ledger balances for all media revenue-related accounts, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
• • You will prepare necessary schedules and respond to inquiries from external auditors during the year-end financial statement audit, demonstrating a strong understanding of our revenue processes.
• • Collaborating with the Accounting Manager and sales partners, you will help develop and refine processes and policies for various types of media contract arrangements, driving efficiency and best practices.
• • You will actively support process improvement and automation initiatives, leveraging technology to enhance the accuracy, efficiency, and scalability of our revenue recognition procedures.
• • Performing detailed balance sheet and P&L flux analysis for media, affiliate, and other revenue accounts will be a regular part of your responsibilities, providing critical insights into financial performance.
• • You will provide support to the broader accounting team and assist with ad hoc projects as needed, demonstrating flexibility and a willingness to contribute across various accounting functions.
