📋 Description

• • Shape the future of manufacturing by owning the full lifecycle of robotic grasping and manipulation capabilities at Sunrise Robotics. You will architect, prototype, and harden algorithms that let our robots pick, place, and manipulate thousands of different parts with millimetre precision in real production lines.
• • Select and fuse the best of classical analytic grasp planning, modern deep-learning models, and hybrid approaches to create robust, generalisable solutions that work the first time on the factory floor. Your decisions directly influence which techniques make it into production and how millions of items are assembled.
• • Write production-grade Python and C++ code that runs 24/7 inside customer plants. You will enforce rigorous software standards (unit tests, CI/CD, code reviews, static analysis) so that every commit ships safely to robots handling fragile electronics, heavy metal castings, and everything in between.
• • Integrate perception (RGB-D, stereo, force/torque), motion planning (OMPL, TrajOpt), low-level control (ROS 2 Control, EtherCAT), and custom hardware interfaces into a single coherent pipeline. You will debug timing issues down to the millisecond and tune controllers until the robot feels like an extension of the operator’s hand.
• • Close the notorious sim-to-real gap. You will extend our Nvidia Isaac Sim / Omniverse digital twin so that behaviours trained in simulation transfer with >95 % first-try success on the physical robot. Expect to invent new randomisation, domain-adaptation, and calibration tricks along the way.
• • Influence hardware choices: cameras, grippers, force sensors, robot arms, and safety systems. You will run trade-off studies, write requirement specs, and sit at the table with vendors and mechanical engineers to ensure the chosen components can deliver the performance your algorithms promise.
• • Deploy your code to live customer sites across the EU. You will travel to Ljubljana and partner factories for on-site bring-up, gather operator feedback, and iterate on the spot until the system runs flawlessly. Every successful deployment is a visible win celebrated by the whole company.
• • Collaborate daily with a multidisciplinary team of roboticists, ML researchers, control engineers, and field technicians. You will review PRs, present findings in weekly deep-dives, and mentor junior engineers while learning from domain experts in vision and real-time systems.
• • Contribute to the broader robotics stack beyond grasping: calibration routines, safety monitors, fleet telemetry, and cloud analytics. Your fingerprints will be on every layer that turns a single robot into an autonomous production cell.
• • Champion a culture of continuous learning. You will track the latest RSS, ICRA, and CoRL publications, run internal reading groups, and prototype bleeding-edge ideas that could become next year’s product differentiator.
