Full Job Description
📋 Description
- • Senior Rust Engineer role at NextLink Labs LLC, a fast-growing technology firm specializing in building, scaling, and securing software applications for clients across industries. This position is critical to delivering secure, high-performance backend systems that enable client success through effective and scalable technology solutions.
- • Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services using Rust, with direct client engagement to demonstrate progress, gather feedback, and ensure alignment with business goals in a remote-first, agile consulting environment.
- • Collaborate with cross-functional engineers to architect modular, well-structured solutions using workspace crates (model, domain, data, service), applying Clean Architecture, CQRS, event sourcing, and actor-based concurrency patterns to build resilient, observable systems.
- • Implement and optimize gRPC services for inter-service communication, leveraging Tonic and async runtimes like Tokio, while building data access layers for relational (e.g., PostgreSQL), time-series (e.g., TimescaleDB), and graph (e.g., Neo4j) databases.
- • Participate in daily stand-ups, weekly agile ceremonies, code reviews, and observability initiatives using OpenTelemetry and Tracing to ensure system reliability, performance, and security compliance including JWT-based auth.
- • Contribute to technical excellence by mentoring peers, advocating for best practices in testing (unit, integration, BDD/Cucumber), and driving ownership across software engagements from inception to deployment and monitoring.
- • Join a remote-first, inclusive culture that values clarity, autonomy, and outcomes — offering flexibility to thrive professionally while maintaining work-life balance in a growing technical consulting firm.
- • Gain deep expertise in modern distributed systems, cloud-native deployment (Kubernetes, AKS), and observability stacks (Grafana, Azure Monitor), positioning you as a leader in secure, scalable backend engineering with exposure to enterprise-grade architectures.
🎯 Requirements
- • 5+ years of experience building backend services, with at least 2-3 years of production Rust development
- • Strong understanding of Clean Architecture, CQRS, Event Sourcing, and actor-based concurrency patterns
- • Experience designing and implementing gRPC APIs; familiarity with Tonic is a plus
- • Proficiency with relational, time-series, and graph databases — experience with TimescaleDB and Neo4j preferred
- • Strong testing practices including unit and integration testing; familiarity with BDD frameworks like Cucumber is a plus
- • Understanding of security best practices including JWT-based authentication and authorization
🏖️ Benefits
- • Remote-first culture with flexible work schedule and autonomy to do your best work
- • Responsibility and ownership at a growing technology consulting firm
- • Opportunity to build something big and exciting while working with diverse client engineering teams
- • Inclusive, collaborative environment that supports professional growth and personal well-being outside of work
