📋 Description
- • Senior Rust Engineer role at NextLink Labs LLC, a fast-growing technology firm specializing in building, scaling, and securing software applications for clients across industries. This position is critical to delivering secure, high-performance backend systems that enable client success through effective and reliable technology implementation.
- • Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services using Rust, with direct client engagement to demonstrate progress, gather feedback, and ensure alignment with business goals in a remote-first, agile consulting environment.
- • Collaborate within a distributed team of engineers across Canada to architect modular, well-structured solutions using workspace crates (model, domain, data, service), applying Clean Architecture, CQRS, event sourcing, and actor-based concurrency patterns to build resilient, observable systems.
- • Build and optimize gRPC services for inter-service communication, implement data access layers for relational (e.g., PostgreSQL), time-series (e.g., TimescaleDB), and graph (e.g., Neo4j) databases, and enhance system observability using Tracing and OpenTelemetry.
- • Participate in agile ceremonies including daily stand-ups and weekly planning, conduct thorough code reviews, and contribute to team knowledge sharing while owning end-to-end feature delivery from design to production.
- • Work with cutting-edge async runtimes (Tokio), query builders (SQLx), and deployment platforms (Kubernetes/AKS), gaining hands-on experience with modern cloud-native tooling and distributed systems patterns.
- • Develop deep expertise in secure system design, including JWT-based authentication and authorization, while contributing to a culture of technical excellence, ownership, and continuous improvement at a growing remote-first firm.
- • Opportunity to shape technical direction and mentor peers through code reviews and architectural decisions, while building a portfolio of impactful client-facing systems that scale securely and efficiently.
🎯 Requirements
- • 5+ years of experience building backend services, with at least 2-3 years of production Rust development
- • Strong understanding of Clean Architecture, CQRS, Event Sourcing, and actor-based concurrency patterns
- • Proficiency with relational, time-series, and graph databases; experience with TimescaleDB and Neo4j preferred
- • Experience designing and implementing gRPC APIs; familiarity with Tonic is a plus
- • Strong testing practices including unit and integration testing; familiarity with BDD frameworks like Cucumber is a plus
- • Understanding of security best practices including JWT-based authentication and authorization
