Full Job Description
📋 Description
- • Senior Rust Engineer role at NextLink Labs LLC, a fast-growing technology firm specializing in building, scaling, and securing software applications for clients across industries. This position is critical to delivering secure, scalable backend systems that enable client success through effective and secure technology utilization.
- • Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services using Rust, working within a remote-first, agile team environment to architect modular solutions across workspace crates (model, domain, data, service) while implementing gRPC services, optimizing data access layers for relational, time-series, and graph databases, and contributing to observability via Tracing and OpenTelemetry.
- • NextLink Labs is a remote-first, inclusive technology consulting firm with team members across Uruguay, committed to fostering a collaborative, professional environment where engineers can thrive and maintain work-life balance while delivering high-impact software solutions.
- • Engage directly with clients to demonstrate progress, gather feedback, and ensure alignment with business goals; participate in daily stand-ups, weekly agile meetings, and code reviews to uphold quality and knowledge sharing.
- • Own end-to-end development of enterprise-grade backend systems using Clean Architecture, CQRS, event sourcing, and actor-based concurrency patterns, with opportunities to deepen expertise in distributed systems, security (JWT), and cloud-native observability while taking full ownership of technical outcomes.
- • Grow as a technical leader by mentoring peers through code reviews, influencing architectural decisions, and expanding proficiency in modern Rust ecosystem tools like Tokio, SQLx, Axum, and Dapr, while gaining hands-on experience with Kubernetes, Kafka, and OpenTelemetry in production environments.
🎯 Requirements
- • 5+ years of experience building backend services, with at least 2-3 years of production systems development in Rust
- • Strong understanding of Clean Architecture, CQRS, Event Sourcing, and actor-based concurrency patterns
- • Proficiency with relational, time-series, and graph databases, including preferred experience with TimescaleDB and Neo4j
- • Experience designing and implementing gRPC APIs, with familiarity with Tonic considered a plus
- • Strong testing practices including unit and integration testing; familiarity with BDD frameworks like Cucumber is advantageous
- • Understanding of security best practices, particularly JWT-based authentication and authorization
- • Familiarity with observability principles and experience with OpenTelemetry preferred
🏖️ Benefits
- • Remote-first culture with flexible work schedule and autonomy to do your best work from anywhere in Uruguay
- • Responsibility and autonomy at a growing company, enabling ownership of technical decisions and project outcomes
- • Opportunity to build something big and exciting as part of a technical consulting firm that values clarity, ownership, and measurable results
- • Inclusive, collaborative work environment designed to support professional growth and personal well-being outside of work
- • Exposure to modern distributed systems patterns and cloud-native technologies including Kubernetes, Kafka, Dapr, and OpenTelemetry
- • Continuous learning through engagement with cutting-edge Rust ecosystem tools such as Tokio, SQLx, Axum, and Tonic
