- • Senior Safety Specialist at Shield AI, Inc. plays a critical role in ensuring the safety and compliance of advanced autonomous systems used in defense and national security operations. This position is vital to maintaining the integrity of flight operations and supporting the company’s mission to protect service members and civilians through intelligent systems.
- • Day-to-day responsibilities include developing and implementing safety management systems, conducting hazard analyses and risk assessments for unmanned aircraft systems (UAS), ensuring compliance with FAA and DoD safety regulations, leading safety investigations, and collaborating with engineering, flight test, and operations teams to integrate safety into the design and deployment of V-BAT and X-BAT aircraft and Hivemind technologies.
- • Shield AI is a venture-backed deep-tech company founded in 2015 with a mission to protect service members and civilians using AI-powered autonomous systems. The company operates globally with offices across the U.S., Europe, Middle East, and Asia-Pacific, and its products are actively used in real-world defense operations.
- • In this role, the Senior Safety Specialist will gain deep expertise in aviation safety for autonomous systems, influence safety culture in a high-stakes defense technology environment, and contribute to the certification and operational readiness of cutting-edge UAS platforms used by military and government clients.
🎯 Requirements
- • Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Safety Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical field
- • 5+ years of experience in aviation safety, system safety, or safety management within aerospace, defense, or UAS industries
- • Proven experience conducting hazard analyses (e.g., PHA, FMEA, FTA) and developing safety cases for unmanned or manned aircraft systems
