- • We are seeking a UK-based Staff Security Engineer to serve as a technical leader within our Security Operations and Response Team, leading incident response, monitoring for cyber threats, and driving continuous improvement of security operations.
- • Day to day, you will proactively monitor for cyber threats, serve as incident commander during security events, execute incident response activities aligned with NIST, maintain and improve the Cybersecurity Incident Response Plan, participate in 24x7 on-call rotations, conduct threat hunting, develop detection logic using detections-as-code, and collaborate with engineering and cross-functional teams.
- • You will join Marqeta’s Security Operations and Response Team, reporting to the Manager of Security Operations and Response, working remotely anywhere in the UK or from the London office, supporting a mission to transform how money moves through embedded finance.
- • In this role, you will deepen your expertise in incident response, digital forensics, threat hunting, and detection engineering; mentor junior staff; influence security strategy; and gain experience in fintech and regulated environments while contributing to a globally recognized payments platform.
🎯 Requirements
- • 5+ years of hands-on experience in security operations with strong expertise in incident response, digital forensics, and threat hunting
- • Experience serving as an incident commander or leading incident response workstreams, with the ability to make sound decisions under pressure
- • Proficiency with security monitoring and forensic tools including EDR, SIEM, and SOAR systems
- • Experience developing detections-as-code, including familiarity with version control, CI/CD pipelines, and detection testing frameworks
- • Working knowledge of MITRE ATT&CK and experience using it to assess detection coverage and map threat actor TTPs
- • Working knowledge of AWS cloud services and securing cloud environments
