- • Drive stability and scalability across a global compute platform spanning multiple public clouds, data centers, and on-premise environments that serve as the foundation for every DraftKings product.
- • Operate and evolve the GitOps delivery model using Rancher Fleet, Flux, and Helm to deploy core cluster services and application workloads declaratively and repeatably.
- • Build self-healing, fault-tolerant infrastructure and internal tooling to eliminate repetitive operational work and reduce toil for platform and application teams.
- • Own cluster autoscaling and capacity strategy, including Karpenter, HPA, KEDA, and predictive scaling driven by event and calendar data.
- • Define SLOs and reliability metrics for platform components, using Datadog and the company’s logging pipeline to monitor and surface cluster and workload health.
- • Support technical growth by sharing knowledge, participating in design discussions, and contributing to a collaborative team culture, including participation in on-call rotation.
- • Design and implement automation-first solutions to elevate system performance and eliminate operational friction across distributed systems.
- • Influence architectural decisions to ensure reliable, scalable, and resilient infrastructure that supports high-traffic, mission-critical applications.
- • Utilize Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and configuration management tools to ensure scalable, repeatable, and auditable infrastructure provisioning.
- • Troubleshoot complex issues in Linux-based systems, including container runtimes like Docker and containerd, packet-level networking, and kernel-level debugging.
- • Collaborate across engineering teams to ensure infrastructure meets the needs of application developers while maintaining high availability and performance standards.
- • Maintain and improve the reliability of systems serving global users through proactive monitoring, incident response, and continuous improvement of operational processes.
🎯 Requirements
- • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or relevant education, experience, and training
- • At least 4 years managing distributed cloud and on-premise environments at scale, with strong hands-on AWS experience; exposure to GCP, vSphere, or Nutanix is a plus
- • Deep expertise in container orchestration with Kubernetes, including designing, scaling, and troubleshooting complex workloads
- • Strong experience developing software for automation and infrastructure tooling using Go and Python
- • Working knowledge of networking and Linux-based systems, including container runtimes (Docker, containerd), packet-level debugging, and kernel troubleshooting
- • Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and configuration management tools for scalable infrastructure provisioning
