• • Join Hopper's dynamic Cloud FinOps team as a Senior Site Reliability Engineer, a pivotal role focused on optimizing our expansive Google Cloud infrastructure that serves millions of users globally.
• • This position is 100% remote, based in the Netherlands, offering a unique opportunity to shape the cost-efficiency, scalability, reliability, and security of a large-scale platform.
• • You will be instrumental in driving significant cost improvements across our infrastructure, tackling challenges such as reducing network egress costs by optimizing header usage and ensuring efficient data warehousing through strategic storage solutions like cold storage for infrequently accessed data.
• • A key responsibility will be to fine-tune autoscaling mechanisms for both databases and compute resources, ensuring optimal performance and resource utilization.
• • You will play a crucial role in enhancing our cost attribution systems, providing all engineering teams with clear and actionable visibility into their cloud spending.
• • This role involves active participation in incident response, including being part of an on-call rotation for platform incidents. Given the distributed nature of our engineering teams across America and Europe, this rotation is designed to allow for comfortable sleep hours.
• • You will also be a go-to resource for engineers seeking support with infrastructure-related queries and challenges, and will be responsible for approving Pull Requests that require Platform team oversight.
• • As part of a small, highly effective SRE team, you will collaborate closely with talented engineers to maintain and enhance our robust cloud environment.
• • Your work will directly impact the financial health and operational excellence of Hopper's core technology, supporting our mission to be the leading global travel platform.
• • You will leverage your expertise in SRE and FinOps principles to build and maintain solutions that are not only reliable and scalable but also cost-effective and user-friendly for internal engineering teams.
• • This role requires a proactive approach to identifying and implementing optimizations, ensuring our infrastructure remains at the forefront of technological advancement and financial prudence.
• • You will contribute to the continuous improvement of our observability stack, focusing on log collection, metrics, and Application Performance Monitoring (APM), with a preference for Datadog.
• • Security will be a paramount concern, involving the implementation and maintenance of robust security practices, including Identity and Access Management (IAM), Role-Based Access Control (RBAC), and network security configurations.
• • You will also contribute to the development and refinement of our CI/CD pipelines, ensuring efficient and reliable deployment processes.
• • Deep dives into database technologies and performance tuning will be a regular part of your responsibilities, ensuring data integrity and accessibility.
• • Scripting in Bash and Python, or other relevant languages, will be essential for automating tasks and developing custom solutions.
• • You will engage with authentication and authorization technologies to secure our systems and user access.
