📋 Description

• Architect and implement scalable cloud infrastructure on AWS/GCP to support new services and key product initiatives within Airwallex’s Spend domain.
• Embed directly with product and development teams to drive reliability, performance, and operational readiness across high-impact, cross-functional projects.
• Lead incident response and post-mortems for critical production systems, ensuring rapid resolution and prevention of recurrence.
• Design and maintain observability frameworks including monitoring, alerting, logging, and tracing to ensure system transparency and proactive issue detection.
• Own and define service-level objectives (SLOs), service-level indicators (SLIs), and runbooks for core infrastructure services supporting global financial operations.
• Lead and execute large-scale infrastructure initiatives such as global data center migrations and legacy system modernization, ensuring minimal disruption and high availability.
• Collaborate with central DevOps and security teams to enforce compliance standards and maintain resilience in highly regulated financial environments.
• Champion reliability best practices across engineering teams, influencing architecture decisions to prioritize system stability and scalability.
• Automate operational workflows to reduce toil, improve efficiency, and enable developer autonomy through infrastructure-as-code and CI/CD pipelines.
• Analyze capacity trends and plan for scalable resource allocation to meet anticipated growth in transaction volume and global user demand.
• Work with data engineering teams to ensure reliability and performance of financial data pipelines supporting spend management and reporting functions.
• Drive continuous improvement of DevOps performance metrics and operational KPIs aligned with business objectives and SRE principles.
• Act as a technical lead for SRE strategy, mentoring junior engineers and fostering a culture of ownership, curiosity, and systematic problem-solving.
• Apply AI tools to accelerate troubleshooting, optimize monitoring configurations, and improve system diagnostics across distributed cloud environments.
• Participate in on-call rotations to ensure 24/7 operational coverage for critical financial infrastructure with clearly defined escalation paths.
• Translate business-critical requirements into technical specifications for infrastructure design, balancing speed, rigor, and compliance.
• Partner with product managers to align infrastructure roadmaps with business priorities and customer needs in the global payments and spend management space.
• Contribute to the evolution of Airwallex’s operating principles by demonstrating founder-like energy, first-principles thinking, and end-to-end ownership of outcomes.

🎯 Requirements

• 6+ years in an SRE, DevOps, or infrastructure-focused engineering role
• Bachelor degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field
• Expertise in cloud platforms (AWS/GCP), Kubernetes, observability, and incident response
• Able to lead SRE strategy for large-scale, cross-functional projects
• Strong experience supporting production systems with high availability and compliance requirements
• Proven ability to work closely with developers and guide reliability best practices
